The kitchen is a little small for twelve rooms ( 4 cooking plates for 12 people and only one sink) No soundproof, very noisy when the other guests have dinner late in the evening

Dettifoss Guesthouse is a very nice place, we have enjoyed our stay. Cozy room, four shared bathrooms in top condition (new and super clean), fully equiped kitchen and shared dinning room. The location is also very convenient. :) Perfect stay, highly recommended.

WCs were super clean! we reported that the wifi wasn't working and someone came all the way down in terrible weather conditions to fix it for us :-) the kitchen was also well equipped!

Kitchen was overcrowded as everybody was cooking dinner at the same time.

It was a perfect location to end the daytrip of Hengifoss, Dettifoss and Selfoss waterfalls and Asbyrg canyon. Big roon, 3 bathrooms and recently renovated and in good order. Very clean. Owner sent additional information about the key which was helpful. Good value for money.

This review is hidden because it doesn't meet our guidelines.

It was further away from the Dettifoss Falls than the name would suggest but I could have done more complete research. No freezer available to refreeze my ice packs.

The facility is lovely, with ultra-modern bathrooms, good WiFi, a huge dining area and a large, shared kitchen with every gadget imaginable. The triple (3 single bed) room had plenty of space, though the wardrobe featured in other rooms had been eliminated to create that space. No issue here with that for a one-night stopover. This was the best value of our trip!

In the big sleeping room there were extra screens to divide the room a little bit. After replacing them there were some dustclouds when moving them and moving the beds a bit.

The 4 person sleepingroom was pretty big. There were enough wc/bathrooms which where pretty big as well. And the big...big tv screen was amazing to see the volcano live :)

Everything was very well organized, Olga, the host was very welcoming and helpful, we simply enjoyed our stay. She has invested much in raising the comfort and quality of the guesthouse since 2018 when we were at Dettifoss Guesthouse for the first time. The shared new baths proved to be a good investment. A very friendly place, however still kind of under construction. Clean rooms and facilities, a bit crowded kitchen when the occupancy gets full. But a great starting point for Detiffoss and Mývatn. Asbyrgi National park is just a few km away.

This simple, relaxed place suited me well after a long ride over the mountains to Dettifoss. Lovely bathrooms and a well equipped kitchen. Bed was comfy and everywhere was warm.

A second cooker would have been useful and a small freezer/icebox for freezing cool box gel packs. Other than that the only issues are those inherent in all shared accomodations - pressure on the bathrooms and kitchen.

Clean, friendly, largely well equipped kitchen (see below for possible improvements), masses of cutlery, equipment, utensils. Easy to find, very good showers. Very clean bathrooms. Curtains which kept the sun out.

Our room was so hot, we tried to open windows but bugs were coming in.

Check in was so easy. The owner is very accomodating. They don't have private bathrooms, but there are 3 that are shared. They are really nice and clean.

Some of the kitchen equipment needs replacing: thin cutting boards have some thin slice holes, the vegetable grater is cracked because the plastic is thin. Maybe thicker cutting boards and a box grater would solve this. Bathroom needs better partition from the shower section.

The location was perfect for Dettifoss and Asbyrgi, as well as driving to the coast. The owner was especially helpful when I accidentally forgot my key in my room. The ratio of rooms to bathrooms was excellent considering most rooms could fit 3 people.
