Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomNo fan in the bathroom and heating automatically off from evening through all night, meaning we slept with humid air during all night and clothes were humid as well. Breakfast: very good quantity but low quality

SwitzerlandRoom amenities were minimal. Hair dryer and iron were missing. In-house dining was pretty restrictive in terms of available options. Locationwise it is pretty far away from Vik and the road to and fro needs pretty careful driving.
The staff, the breakfast and the layout of the hotel were pretty good and comfortable. The prximity of parking close to the room is also an added advantage

CanadaIt is a typical hotel. The rooms were comfortable, clean. The breakfast was very good with nice selection of food, including gluten free food - important to some travelers.

United StatesThere were too many large groups, and when we opened the room doors, we could hear loud noises. However, inside the room, it was quiet, so we didn't really care. The breakfast area was overcrowded but the food was good with a wide variety of options.
The hotel's location was fantastic, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding landscapes. The rooms were well-appointed and comfortable, with modern amenities. We booked 2 rooms and both were amazing. The hotel had essential amenities, including free Wi-Fi, parking, and a well-maintained outdoor area. Considering the stunning location and overall experience, I found the hotel to offer good value for money. The unique setting, attentive service, and delightful breakfast buffet justified the price.

United KingdomThe room had a weird smell when we entered, although it did seem very clean. Also, there was central heating so we couldn’t change the temperature of the room. However, staff gave us a small heater to accommodate to our needs.
The hotel was just a short drive from Vik and Dyrholaey viewpoint, which was ideal for our schedule. The breakfast buffet had a great variety of options and tasty food. Would recommend for a short stay to explore some areas in the south coast (e.g., Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss waterfalls, black sand beach, Vik, Dyrholaey, etc.). Friendly and accommodating staff.

ItalyTaking in account that Iceland is expensive I still find that the hotel was overpriced. The hotel is quiet old fashioned and does not have an appealing design.
The room was super clean and the bathroom had a nice floor heating that with low temperatures is really a great feature. The view from our window was also amazing with the glacier visible at distance. One night we also managed to slightly see the northern lights.

United KingdomReception was supposed to open at 7am to check out but there was nobody there and we had to leave the key behind the desk. Rooms are small and really basic. There was one pillow each and no headboard - not very comfy. Walls are thin and the people in corridors were really loud.
Location was great - very close to the black sand beach and to Vik. Breakfast was included although there were queues of people waiting for it to open at 7am! We were loading the car to make an early onward journey and couldn't believe how busy the reception was.

SingaporeViews from the wings are non-existent but I don't think it is a very important issue. The systems of the hotel are flawed as I was charged for a drink that I did not take. When asking for details on when the drink was taken, the reception was unable to provide. Of course they waived off the charge but didn't look very convinced. Charges were also quite expensive per room.
Stayed in the furthest wing from reception but the rooms and toilet looked new and are of comfortable size. Breakfast was also very very good and there are a lot of different options. Do try all of them if you can. There are also lifts to go to level 2 so that is a huge help.

SwitzerlandEverything was good. Just a very minor detail: there was no towel for the toddler (they prepared a baby cot, but no towels). So we had to use one of our towels for the toddler and later one of us had to use a wet towel. But not an issue anyway, just a minor detail.

LatviaDepends on what you're after - this is a hotel with many rooms, it does not have the personal feel of other guesthouses nearby. Also, the plates during breakfast are annoyingly small.
Friendly and helpful staff, good location for nearby sightseeing and a beautiful view of the seashore. The room was comfortable and had most things you would expect in a hotel. The breakfast had a good selection.
