Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United StatesIt is difficult to get to the room with luggage, some rooms require you to had take a half flight of stairs. Only one way out, go the wrong way, and you get lost, no map. Parking could be identified better.

GermanyWay too expensive, too little value for money.... The hotel looks like (and probably is or it was) a students college , which is not in use during summetime and is therefore transformed in a hotel.. Room are spacious and beds comfortable, but the furniture is ruined and overall appearance is really basic. Overall it is ok a for a one night or short staying, but for sure it is too expensive for what offered. I have paid much less for luxury apartments in Reykiavik, so I would definitely adjust the prices .......
The hotel is ok for one night staying, good breakfast

United StatesThe price was not worth the amenities as it was very basic. There was no hand soap in bathroom and the curtains could be better to block out light at night.
The facility was clean and location worked for us.

United StatesAll good! We anjoyed our stay. Basic room but we know what to expect.
The room was small, nice, basic, and comfortable. It is a dorm room during the school year and hotel in summer. This is common in Iceland and makes good use of the building! It is affordable, comfortable, and great for saving money on hotels when all you need a bed and shower. We travel this way in Iceland and this was a lovely hotel that fits.

United StatesThe overhead lights. The hotel uses dimmer switches and ours did not, at least, we could not make them work correctly. Two different rooms, same issue. Suggest replacing with standard on/off switches. Also, the shower curtains in both rooms needed attention.
Ended up staying here 2 nights due to severe weather. Ring Road (Rt 1) was closed going both West and South. Egillsstadir is a nice little town to explore. Satisfactory for what we needed.

ThailandThere is a bit smelly and dirty (some old little towel left when we arrived) in the toilet of 1 room. (Another one is fine.)
We are group of family (6 people) and booked 2 triple rooms which they managed the room to be closed as requested. The triple rooms have 2 levels (2 beds on the first floor and the other one on the second floor) which is really lovely. There are big windows to see the view which is different between first and second floor. The view from the room is beautiful. There are a lot of parking lot available, and we can temporarily park near the building to bring our luggages down first. The checkin and checkout process is easy.

SwitzerlandSmall and smelly bathroom (we did not use that shower…no way) Breakfast room was overcrowded (bus tours seem to use that hotel frequently) and selection limited (given the room rate) Clearly overpriced (even for Iceland)
Central location (small town anyway) A lot of parking Comfy beds Would have been a perfect youth hostel accommodation (if not for the price: 280,- € per night)

United StatesAlthough there is an elevator, many rooms still require ascending a flight of stairs to get to. Our room was quite small for fitting four people.

AustraliaWe had to wait a while for someone to come to the coun ter to check us in and the signage did not match where our room was. We got lost in the many corridors twice!
Every time I stay at an Edda hotel I have the best sleeps. The bed is comfy, and the room is nicely heated or cooled. This was an older hotel and was a little tired in some areas but we had a loft room giving us extra space for 3 people. This was a true 3-person room, not just an extra bed in a double room. The breakfast room was huge with a good selection of cold breakfast items.
