Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

The towels were rough, but they did the job.

Windows cannot be opened everywhere, old windows creapy, wind was hard, we have to tell. Heating not so warm...radiators warming just in half of their part in some rooms.
The beds so comfortable, the bedcloththes so fresh, and the cleaniness. Very good to read newspapers from icelandic times.

Appartment is old. There are many (too many) things in the kitchen. Many of them are old, dirty any not very useful. It would be better to have basic things and this in good condition.
Nice view and accross the street there is a great hot spring. Very big appartment.

All was good
Great Location! Loved the pool in front of The Guesthouse, such a perfect way to end the day. It is a basic Guesthouse but all you need is there. Silja is easy to communicate with. Highly recommend you visiting here for one of two nights to enjoy The Westfjords

This is not about the accommodation but the area. It is very remote, which we loved, but weren't quite aware of how far away the shops would be. If eating in the accommodation you need to be sure you have absolutely everything with you for cooking.
This accommodation is very rural in the West Fjords with beautiful views of the sea and mountains. There was plenty of space for parking and in the apartment. Good kitchen facilities with oven and hob, microwave, coffee maker and toaster. Tea and coffee, sugar and salt were provided. It is very quiet there.

No informtaion on check-in provided, so we were a bit confused, but then host showed up and gave us basic instructions. Bathroom is old and used.
Good location close to Krosslaug pool, Well-equipped kitchen and nice dining area. Located near main road, surrounded by trees, so noise is blocked. Nice starting point to Wesfjords, also close to historical area of Vatnsfjordur.

No big complaints, just suggestions. Some better instructions on what to do when checking out might have been useful, also a sheet explaining the pool across the street could have saved us some time spent trying to figure it out in icy conditions.
Lovely place, a small home nestled in a small cluster of houses. Felt safe, warm and welcome. The swimming pool and hot tub across the road were sensational! TV was good and kitchen was well equipped. The shower was also excellent. Beds and even books and games provided for the whole family. We stayed in 6 different places up and down Iceland in a week, and this one was my wife's favourite.

Not very cozy, with few kitchen amenities, the house could be more clean. The house is a bit old and could be more looked after

The guest house provides older style but spacious accommodation. The host Silja is exceptional. We had found the hotel restaurant where we had intended having a meal and had planned to stay had closed down so we had a very late booking. Silja welconed us gererously and kindly offered to cook us a meal, a delicious Icelandic meal. Thank you Silja.

Some things were a bit dated and could use a little touch up. Overall the space m et our needs.
This property has a beautiful view of the ocean. It is also right across the road from the Krosslaug hot spring and pool. It was windy and cool, so we did not use them, but they are very accessible from this property. Everything was clean and kitchen well appointed. A TV was available with ability to stream movies etc.

The kitchen appliances were a bit disgusting, the floor was dirty. I wouldn't use the kettle since it was all rust, sal and pepper were old and like a rock. The bathroom smelled bad.
The location is just amazing. And the host was very helpful.

There were lots of flies in the house upon arrival, but I guess this cannot be avoided at this time of year. A fly swatter would have been useful.
Spacious house with everything we needed. Very good beds. Very friendly hostess who gave us some good tips on things to see and do in the Westfjords.
