The cleanliness could be improved, also the shower water pressure was quite low where all other sinks did have good waterpressure.

The place was adequate for what it was, nothing more and nothing less. It is quite remote and it felt like it. We had a surprise visit of some farm cats in the house which wanted to play. Very enjoyable. Breakfast was not great, not terrible, it was passable.

The heater on the wall of our room was not working. Several rooms were in this situation this night. So we were told to use one of the portable heaters available, but when we plugged it, it broke the fuses. Someone came to fix the fuses and the wall heaters but the heaters still didn't work, so we slept in a cold room. We understand that the site had energy problems because of the snow storm, but the heaters of the rooms were old and the sockets on the wall couldn't handle the portable heaters. We recommend to fix this equipment.

The site is beautiful and the village charming. Our cottage was not available because of the snow storm, but we were installed in a lovely guesthouse with a warm living room and a great kitchen. The personnel was very kind.

communication about road closures

we didn’t get to stay sadly. the snow had closed many roads in the days before. we emailed the property the night before our stay to ask about access as the official road safety websites looked like access was closed off the full length of the side road from the ring road. we heard nothing that night or the next morning either (still looking closed) and as we have a child we decided we simply had to book something else that was on an open road. eventually heard at 2.15pm from the host that the road had opened (on a much warmer day where much snow melted during the day) and no refund was possible. we know it’s Iceland, so we take our chances in October but speedier communication would have been welcomed (and saved us money). sorry not to visit. we had been looking forward to it.

The house, and bedroom especially, were very cold. The radiator in the bedroom was not working and only one in the entire living area was warm, not hot! Not acceptable in Iceland in October

We did not get the room we booked and paid for. There is a row of rooms that overlook the parking area and there is the other row of rooms overlooking the vaste land with a little terrace. We booked the one with the terrace, got the one looking on to the busy parking lot and got told it is the same..... No apology just a lot of explanations and the promise they will change the description. Please do. Also there is no kitchen, just a place to make yourself coffee and tea. No stove. It is a nice place, but we could not help to feel disappointed....

We had asked for two twin rooms, but were given a twin and a double with an extra v small bed (rather small for our 12 year old). Also I had requested no feather bedding (due to an allergy), but all bedding provided was feather.

A leak in the family cottage meant that we had to be moved to the basic shared hostel accommodation. The wifi was so weak that it was unusable and the lights didn’t work in 2 of the 3 toilets that were meant to be shared between multiple families.

Mixed feelings about this stay. We got a puncture on the access road so we were already feeling stressed when we turned up to be told that our accommodation had been downgraded from the family cottage to the shared hostel facilities due to a water leak. The service recovery was good in that they gave us free dinner and breakfast (worth more than the room price difference). They also managed a temporary fix on the tyre which saved a lot of hassle and stress after a long day. The restaurant was one of the main reasons for picking this stop and both the dinner and breakfast were excellent. If we had booked the hostel and wanted to cook then the kitchen facilities looked great. The staff did everything they could to salvage the situation given that the better rooms were fully booked and that there is nowhere else to stay close by.

The rooms did not have any storage space, walls were thin and could hear people chats in next room. Very few showers and WC (shared), had to queue every time we needed to use them.

We were sad that in the accommodation we were staying at (Lazy Town), there were more than 10 people accommodated. In total, there were 12 other people besides us (4 individuals) staying at the accommodation. As a result, we couldn't use the common area and the kitchen, as they were constantly occupied. Even though the price was cheap, it wasn't worth it.

Staff seemed to be not very happy to have guests. Hairdryer didn’t work, at reception they promised to bring another one, never came. Not even rubbish bin in the room.

The guesthouse is managed virtually (the reception opened in the very late evening) and to obtain helps you should ask to the few humans living there. Our house was not prepared for us. No paper in the toilets, the showers were not working well - almost no warm water. The shower looked like 30 years old. In the basement I found a shower which worked but everything was dirty and like half abandoned. In addition we had all time electrical problems (fusibles) and we only had light in the living room. In our room and kitchen we used our headlamp to circulate in the house including to cook and to eat. Last but least other guest who were sleeping in another house came to us since they house might not have a kitchen. Those unexpected visitors - very noisy and not very respectfull with the other guests - used the kitchen and staid there for 2 hours without any consideration to the fact that this was not a bar. Unfortunately since they did not speak at all English a communication was impossible to at least make them aware of the problems that they created.
