Super comfortable bed, the little extras such as plenty of hooks in bathroom, shoehorn, useful items in kitchen, warm plus able to control heat level (we like the bedroom cool and many places are too hot but we could get all the rooms just right.) Good directions. Good WiFi. Loved not having a TV! Beautiful views ! Quick responses to questions. Handy for getting to and around the peninsula. Bonus supermarket was an easy drive.

Wonderfully secluded cottage in the middle of the countryside. Well situated for trips to Snaefellsnes. Very friendly and nice hosts living on with their farm next door. Possibility to book a guided horse ride with one of their icelandic horses, which was a magical experience! The cottage was well equipped, clean and absolutely cozy. We really enjoyed our stay here and can fully recommend!

The house was exceptionally tidy and clean. If you are looking to witness the aurora borealis and the starry sky, this is the perfect choice. We are also grateful to have met such a wonderful owner who took us to see his own Icelandic horses and sheep, passionately introduced us to local specialties, and provided us with useful travel information. If you choose to stay in this house, be sure to contact the landlord to arrange a horseback riding tour and experience a different side of Iceland. The facilities in the house were very complete and modern. Thank you to the host for hosting us.

Locate this property in the daylight. Not in the dark. Follow exact instructions of owner and use the GPS system they tell you to use. How we actually ended up getting here in the night I'm not exactly sure.

We loved our stay. What a beautiful little home. So quaint and they really thought of everyting. Perfect for a party of 2. Would work for a small family as well.

Thee can be lots of midges, they woke us up at night by stinging us. Keep the windows closed as much as possible. Insect screens for the windows would be nice.

There are a gazillion flies and even more biting midges. At the end of my stay I was fully covered in bug bites, something that didn’t happen anywhere else on my trip in Iceland. If you stay here, come equipped with insect repellent!

Remote location, very beautiful and peaceful. The cabin is comfortable and equipped with all the necessary amenities. The self check-in functioned smoothly.

I've asked the family and we have no complaints.

Superb location - it feels like you are thoroughly in the wilderness, yet Borgarnes is a short drive. It's also a good base for driving to Snaefellsnes as well as the tourist hot spots of the Golden Circle. Given the dark skies, we were able to see the aurora - a truly breathtaking experience.There's also a wonderfully isolated, fairly unknown hot spring close by. Just the right size for 2 people and actually hot, as opposed to warm. The cabin in itself is cosy - despite some very challenging weather at times, we never felt cold. It's also well planned for space and is very comfortable for 3 people. We had everything we needed in the kitchen and bathroom and all the information was provided promptly. This is our first visit to Iceland and having the cabin as our base after long days travelling was just what we needed. We only hope the other cabins we have booked across the country will be as comfortable :)

Gislaholt is a very special place to stay! We stayed for two nights whilst on a road trip around Iceland and it was one of our favourite places. The kitchen was well equipped for cooking on both nights, the beds were very comfortable and the bathroom was modern and clean. There is no TV at the cottage but that didn't bother us as it allowed us to disconnect completely. We didn't see the Northern lights whilst we were here due to low aurora activity but it would be an ideal place on the right night as the cottage is fairly remote and away from light pollution.

Very cosy little cottage with very good facilities in a wonderful area. Ideal for trips to Hraunfossar Waterfall and Viðgelmir Cave.
