Wonderful buffet breakfast. Mountain views from the room. Nicely appointed room. Not large but enough. Semi private outside seating area with the room. Only improvement could be a bit more comfortable bed. Note that rooms are in several different buildings arranged like a pinwheel. You will need to drive or walk to the main building for breakfast.

Arrival and checkout was super easy, room was cozy and faced north, which helped so much as we hoped to see the northern lights. We used the wake-up call service for the north lights, and it was precise and helpful. We could see the lights dancing from our beds. I unfortunately forgot something in the room, and they were super helpful in the communication and shipment of my stuff to my home town. The hot tubes were also a plus and it made our stay even better!

The property is composed of multiple buildings--if you are not comfortable walking distances in ice and snow or don't have a car, I would not recommend this hotel in the winter. All the buildings had multiple bright lights on outside 24/7. It was not the dark oasis for viewing the Northern Lights that I had hoped for. Furthermore, the light on our own porch could not be turned off--it was exceedingly bright, and the curtains couldn't fully block it out. The rooms were far too hot, and the temperature control didn't seem to do much--we resorted to opening our window. The shower curtain was far too long for the rod, causing it be bunched up in the shower and serious trip hazard. I was disappointed that the common area porch with the hot tubs was never cleared of snow during our 4-night stay, leaving us walking barefoot in ~30cm of snow. The pathway in/out of our building was not cleared at 8am (which is not very early, well after breakfast has started) after ~20cm of snow overnight.

We stayed here in a Standard Room for it's proximity to the Golden Circle, and only ~15 min drive to Selfoss. The common-use hot tubs were very nice and hot, and were not frequently occupied during our weekday stay. The robes were excellent for use with the hot tubs. The beds were very comfortable with warm fluffy comforters. The room was very clean, and well-appointed. We really liked the fridge and kettle in the room, with mugs, water glasses, and wine glasses provided. Parking next to our building was plentiful. Breakfast was very nice with hot and cold options

Having to pay for hot drinks to walk around the site with, complimentary hot drinks would be a bonus considering the price you pay to stay. Also the fact our bedroom door was left open from the cleaners all day whilst we was out, there wasn’t much of an apology from management or any type of compensation.

The restaurant menu was limited and the food wasn’t great. We only ate there once as the Gnocchi I order was so bad, no-one asked why I hadn’t eaten it or if there was a problem with it. My son really enjoyed the fries though!

It was clean, warm and comfortable, a great relief to come inside when the weather hit -15. The location, on the Golden Circle route, made it really handy too.

The room was super hot when we arrived and even though we turned off the heating it took over 24 hours to cool down this could also be a plus as it was clearly well insulated) the staff were super helpful bringing a fan to circulate the cool air from the small window. Too windy too have the widow open full or the door to the balcony. Shower curtain! They are just unpleasant in any situation a glass screen would have been better but I’m being super picky here and it certainly wouldn’t stop me recommending or returning.

Clean nicely decorated rooms, food was good in the restaurant both at breakfast and in the evening. Staff were friendly helpful and welcoming. Facilities really good , enough storage (especially in the bathroom), a large fridge, kettle, small hairdryer, safe, nice terrace which allowed excellent views of the northern lights one night, shared hot tubs were an nice bonus although the air temp was too cold for us to brave the few steps from the door to the hot tubs without lots of layers.Plenty of parking, really nice layout of the complex. Highly recommend if you are looking for a golden circle hotel.

The room was boiling hot! The heating was on when we arrived and it was boiling so we immediately turned it down, however the room didn’t cool down all night so we had to sleep with the door open in December which was then also difficult due to the wind!

Booked for our 20th anniversary, and as an added value it ended being a christmas buffet night at the hotel. The location is perfect for a couple's getaway, cosy cabin style rooms. Mattress a bit too firm fo our taste. Weused the outside hot tubs, very relaxing.

When I booked our stay on booking.com, it defaulted me to the currency Euro not Kronos (Iceland) and the conversion was much higher. I was also overcharged and had to straighten it out with my credit card.

Hotel Grimsborgir was wonderful! The staff were exceptional and friendly. They even notified us when to go outside to see the northern lights. Our apartment was spacious for 7 adults and exceeded our expectations. Breakfast was great and a definite plus! We ate dinner there a few times after a long day and it was delicious.

Hotel is new so still some details to adjust, it is comfortable room size was normal, fully equipped, nice location 15 minutes away from Sellfoss. Breakfast is really good. Rooms have just outside hot tubs.

Sadly only 2/4 hot tubs available to us had water in, and the button to make the hot tub bubbles work didn’t work in either tub! At least the views were great!

Lovely hotel situated with great views of the Icelandic countryside. Fast WiFi and beds were super comfy! Breakfast was delicious too.
