Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomLocation Location Location Stayed two nights. What a true hidden gem located right near the centre. Staff were lovely, and the two ladies on reception were so friendly and helpful. The rooms were good and the shared kitchen is a really good feature. Breakfast was lovely, and a recommendation from staff was to try the beetroot and carrot bread. All I have to say is thank you, as this was one of my highlights. Both breads were so yummy. Would definitely stay again.

We came back to Aurora guest house at the end of our road trip as a group of 10. The reception staff is very responsive and always ready to help you. Check in and check out were smooth and quick, as always.

United KingdomWe had to move rooms due to a nosey radiator but it was dealt with quickly. The water from the showers smells a bit but guess this is to do with the geothermal water heating in the area.

IndiaVery clean rooms and an excellent breakfast to complement. The fresh baked bread was an absolute delight. Only thing that I thought was a bit of a drawback was that the toilet and the shower was together. For a shared bathroom for 3 rooms, things would have been better if the two were separate. Apart from this I think it was an absolute pleasure to stay in the Guesthouse Arora

SingaporeThe pole with the privacy curtain dropped in my room. Toilet on the second floor is lacking hooks for clothing and towel, but can use the toilet on L1 or L3 instead (both have hooks). Stairway between L1 and B1 is really narrow, to be careful if you are carrying your luggage from B1 storage area to upper floors at night.
Convenient location near the church, clean. Although room space is small, there is sufficient space to put my luggage on floor and it has a big table and a shelf.

United KingdomOn arrival, we didn’t have code sent to us which was needed to get into the guesthouse and when we did luckily get in we struggled with opening our room door with the keys given and continued struggling with the front door.
We liked the breakfast and tea and coffee making facilities. The owners were very lovely. The beds were comfortable. The room was small but was fine for us. We loved the location! Right around the corner of the Hallgrimskirkja and a short walk from the main streets of Reykjavik.

NetherlandsThe door opens with a code, but I think it's a bit faulty, takes several tries to open. My room was next to the entrance and all night I could hear people struggling to get in. Kept waking me up. Maybe check the lock system and have it fixed.
Close to the center and bus station. Clean. Self check in.

United StatesThere wasn't anything that my group outright disliked. Check-in was a little confusing at first when we arrived, as we did arrive at an earlier time, which conflicted with others as they were checking out. There also isn't a true reception desk which confused us a bit. But once we found a staff member and were checked in, staying at the guesthouse was straightforward and painless.
The beds were incredibly comfortable. Loved having a sink in our room. The guesthouse was relatively quiet, too. We could hardly tell that it was a full house! The location was great, right in the city center. Wi-Fi worked perfectly. Prior to coming to the guesthouse, the staff were incredibly communicative / responsive to email.

SpainThe shared bathroom (only one per floor) is clearly insufficient for the amount of guests. It is also sometimes a bit dirty, depending on the behaviour of the neighbours on your floor.
Superb location, good breakfast (for a nordic/british style) and quite comfy room (those in the main building). Rooms in the ancillary building are a bit less comfortable. We were lucky to have a room with balcony from which we could see the aurora one night.

United Arab EmiratesWhile my stay at the hotel was generally good, there was one downside. My room was located right by the entrance, just above the kitchen, and unfortunately, that meant I could smell the cooking whenever they were preparing meals. The scent would linger in the room, and it even made my hair and belongings smell like food. If you're sensitive to smells or prefer a fresher room, I’d recommend asking for a room further from the kitchen. Otherwise, it was still a decent stay for the price and location.
The location is absolutely prime – just a short walk from the iconic Hallgrimskirkja church and the main street, making it super convenient for sightseeing. It’s also only about a 10-minute walk to the bus station, which is perfect since most of the tours in Reykjavik start and end there. I enjoyed the visit in December when the snow and chilly weather added to the charm of the city. The hotel itself offers great value for money, especially for solo traveller like me. It's affordable, which was ok as mist of the time i was out and about on a tour. While the breakfast was basic and nothing too exciting, it was still decent to start the day. The staff were really friendly and welcoming. If you're looking for a budget-friendly, well-located place to stay in Reykjavik, this hotel is definitely worth considering.
