The location was remote, but that is what we were looking for. We stayed for 2 nights and used it as a base camp to explore the peninsula. There was a grocery store close, so definitely get food before you settle in for the evening. It was a hidden gem.

The stay was even more beautiful in real life than in the photos. The accommodation was clean and spacious enough. We really enjoyed our time here; this is also the place where we had the best view of the Northern Lights. Communication with the host went smoothly, and they were very friendly. Definitely a great place to add to your road trip!

Small and nice house (3 houses in a row), clean and weel equipped... comfy beds... Didn't meet the host, but they are replying really fast, so no issue there... Only downside is crazy noise in the house if it is windy (and it is heavy wind in winter months), the house is squiqing,cracking sounds,, rattling, etc.and it is hard to sleep with that noise...

The locatioan at the lake is just beautiful. When there is no wind it is so peacefully quiet and you can really enjoy nature. If you need to buy sone groceries there is the really nice city Stykkisholmur just 10mins away where you can get everything you need and also dine really nice. Other than that the house is really clean and offers everything you need if you also want to cool by yourself.

Amazing cabin in beautiful location. There are only 3 cabins set up in this location next to a small lake in front, the place is very peaceful and serene. Our cabin has everything we needed to cook a delicious meal after our long day of exploring; the bed and sofa bed were comfortable. The home was tastefully decorated and the owner was very friendly . We loved everything about our stay here and would definitely return!

Nothing comes to mind, honestly. It was a little pricey, but well worth it for the solitude.

This was a lovely little cabin near Helgafell. Clean and well-appointed with everything you will need. You are able to climb Helgafell for free as a guest. The owner's dog, Moli is beautiful and super friendly. Very quiet and peaceful. Communication from the host was excellent.

The “casita” guesthouse setting is very bucolic facing a lake and with a side view of a typical Icelandic church. Perfect location to view northern lights and some cute sheep that come by in the morning

Unfortunately the TV was far too small. 20 inch screen in 2024 and at the distance it’s located from the bed makes no sense, I do not see why it couldn’t be that small bit bigger. Also the water is limited which makes sense due to the location at 150L capacity and only warm for 5 minutes max before needing a reheat. Also for a movies you have to purchase them your self!

The bed was extremely comfortable with a good, heavy duvet, lovely pillows and an extra blanket for warmth. The view was magnificent and you really felt at one with nature, amazing. A nice little drive outside to park the car, and the tv came with a box to make it smart and allow programs like YouTube on the WiFi which was also a good speed.

Love the stay here you can hike Helgafell and make 3 wishes there and what amazing is there are 2 dogs that guided us up it’s so cute. We saw northern lights here too! Amazing experience! There are many heater too so you won’t feel cold

The only thing I wish was for some basic food supplies- some coffee/tea/or milk. The locator is very remote and we missed the grocery story on our way in
