I love the history behind the hotel and the fact that it is in short walking distance from the Fontana baths & bakery. Also, the restaurant in the hotel was very convenient.

Brekfast was great, we also ate dinner at Héraðsskólinn and it was delicious. We got discount and went to Fontana wich was great. The staff was lovely and this place is so great

Windows need bug screens, as there were mosquitoes (?) everywhere. The walls were super thin and we could hear all our neighbors at night. Bring some earplugs if you plan to stay here.

Loved the old school-house feel. Super convenient to walk down to the hot springs just downhill. All the communal rooms for dining and hanging out made this place feel extra homey. The staff we met were amazing and welcoming.

The WiFi signal wasn't strong enough to reach my room. There are only three toilets serving 19 rooms on the second floor. Opening/closing doors is a noisy process if people aren't careful about it. The breakfast, for an additional cost, was just okay. It should be included. (It's too bad that Laugarvatn doesn't have a bakery.)

Very friendly and accommodating staff. Beautiful, historic building in a lovely, quiet setting. Clean, carpeted rooms and hallways (shoes off policy). Great location between Geysir and Thingvellir National Park. (You can easily tour TNP before 1000 when the first tour buses begin to arrive.) Within easy driving distance to Efstidalur II restaurant for lunch/dinner/ice cream.

I went to walk by the mountain and I didn't get enough time to do the Check out on time by 10 am. Maybe it should be extended until 11 am if it's possible.

Amazing place with a spa really close ( Fontana) and the chance to do some trekking( even hiking) in the mountain in front to the hotel.

The rooms could be slightly bigger, but we had no issues with it as we were only staying one night.

The hotel is beautifully located on top of the hill side overlooking the lake below and the wonderful nature. The hotel has small but comfortable rooms and we stayed in a room that shared a bathroom in the hall. It is all very clean and the house is decorated in an old vintage style which goes well with its history. Very comfortable beds. We did not try the restaurant or the breakfast but enjoyed a drink in their bar.

Wearing shoes on premises is not allowed. They should at least provide slippers. Was very cold walking barefooted. Also, they should mention their restaurant under renovation. No where near food available.

There is a snowy mountain view on one side, and a gorgeous lake on the other side of the hotel. There is a thermal spa a short walk from it, and the facility is very practical, warm and clean.

We had booked the family room and we had so much space for all the kids, luggage, and still had space to move about and not bump into each other. The building itself is amazing, and the decor will take you back to says gone by in a homey and welcoming way. Loved staying here!

Some rooms should be replenish - otherwise great guesthouse that i would recommend.

Loved the antique charme of the building. Checkin, checkout and communication were easy. The staff was wholesome and tired their best to accomodate me even though they were undergoing constructions.

Doors are old and loud but not a big deal.

Really nice guesthouse, extremely clean and has lots of accessibility for disabled persons (wheelchair lift to upper floors, stair lifts for main area). Food was great as well. Breakfast is a bit pricey, but they serve lox and other cured meats along with boiled eggs etc so it was worth it. Extremely clean bathrooms with hot showers. Rooms have decent sound proofing, you can’t hear your neighbours too well unless they’re being very loud.

elevator works, but could be better. wish they sold bath salt, the tub was good but didn't fullyenjoy it without bath salt.

The shower facilities are quite simple but clean and functional.

It's a very beautiful building with an interesting history in spectacular surroundings. The communal areas are very nice and comfortable. The staff were very helpful and it's great to have a bar and kitchen on site that are open throughout the day.

Second time I've stayed here, won't be the last. Amazing building. Great breakfast. Quick walk over to Laugarvatn Fontana Spa. Came in late January for the quiet atmosphere. Fabulous interior design. Easy check-in. Fast wi-fi.
