Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United StatesWe stayed in a family room and the description says that includes linens, however it was not provided, we needed to pay an additional fee (over $25 USD, I don’t remember the exact amount). In the bed there was only a bed sheet and one pillow case.

ItalyThe size of the room, the noise
The kitchen was big and fully equipped, but not very clean. The dining room was spacious and comfortable. The room was very small, but that's ok. The problem is that it was very noisy.

United StatesNothing!!
Nice quiet private family room with bunkbeds and a window that opens. Excellent well-stocked kitchen with at least 2 of everything (oven/stove, sinks, workspaces, cutting boards etc) and plenty of room for. many people to comfortable cook at the same time. Beautiful, big glass dining room looking out over lava rocks. Very welcoming staff. Clear posted rules so the place runs efficiently and well but no micromanaging staff. Also a place in the fridge and shelves outside it for extra food you can leave behind for someone else if you are traveling the next day and can't carry it with you. Very nice private showers!

NetherlandsThe beds are extremely loud. So in dormitories when anyone moves the rest wakes up. Above that when we came to our room the heating was full on (beginning of August). We had to open the window for the whole evening and night. That is normally not a problem but near lake Myvatn there are thousands of little annoying flies and on the windows there were no grids. So the flies where coming in the room and that is not what you would like. In general I would rather recommend spending a night in Husavik then near lake Myvatn because those flies are extremely annoying.
Bathroom and room was exceptionally clean, kitchen had everything you need to cook any dinner, stuff was very friendly and helpful.

CanadaYou have to rent linens and quilts during your stay for 30€ which is a bit ridiculous. The toilets were also separate from the showers which was a times inconvenient.
The location was great, right near the lake and easy to find. The kitchen was kept very clean.

Czech RepublicRooms are quite small for 4 people, and the beds make an awful squeaking noise every time anyone moves so we didn't get a good night's sleep.

AustraliaArrived at the accommodation early before checkin and told to return before 10pm. Arrived just after 9pm and the lady at the desk had a go at me for being late. I explained to her what the other staff member had said and she said "I'm just joking." Seemed a little rude. Laundry was far away from the accommodation. The rooms were boiling hot as well. No air circulation. The kitchens and bathrooms were clean and well maintained however.
The location was good. Close to everything.

New ZealandThe kitchen was very close to the room. The walls aren't very sound proof so you can hear all the noise from the kitchen and the foot steps on the floor. Bathroom is quite small and had to stay in line in the morning to get ready and brush my teeth. Also I didn't realize it was a sleeping bag accommodation. I didn't read the very first email they sent to me that there is a charge of 2500 ISK for bed linen. If you don't tell them 24hrs before, you pay 3000 ISK. In my opinion that's a rip off. A few extra bucks for linen is okay but this much?!?! Wasn't very pleased with this and in total not worth for what it is.
It's close to the lake and everything in Myvatn. Had the dorm room to myself as no one else stayed in the room. Staff was very friendly. The dorms are just across the road near the lava fields in front of the lake. Pretty amazing view from there! Parking right in front of the hostel available.

SpainThe hostel has only two showers for everybody. There was no soap for the shower and no even for washing hands. The space room was really really small to leave the bags and we had to make turns to enter it when getting ready.

Czech RepublicThe hostel is a provisional house, a bit worn-out. Luckily I had a whole dorm for me as I could not imagine sleeping there in four due to lack of space. Hostel wanted even extra money for bed linen.
Very convenient location. I reserved a bunk bed, but I had a room just for me. Suitable for a one-night stay.

BelgiumAs mentioned already in the reviews, it’s very loud. The beds are squeaking much more than you could accept and you hear everybody’s bed sounds from across the rooms. You can also hear everybody’s steps in the corridor. The kitchen is quite under equipped as mentioned already. The ressources and amenities available compared to the amount of traffic of tourists is quite low. I think it’s also a bit overpriced for what you get compared to other hostel we’ve been to. But I guess being the only hostel around the lake justifies it.
Location is as expected. It’s a good spot for a sleep, quick meal and shower. Don’t expect a cozy hang out to chill.

Czech RepublicSmall noisy rooms: only four people in dormitory isn´t garantee you will be sleeping well. Paper walls, you hear snoring people from other rooms, you hear steps in corridor and party in the dining room. For such big number of people (I dont know exactly, I mean 16 rooms x4 people=64 people) only two male toilets. All common places just to small for such big trafic! I stayed two nights (didnt know how terrible it is )and I had to change the room .. why??!! Staff smiling.. but not so much helpfull ..
The only good in the place was the breakfast: a lot of varieties, tastefull, nice. But also quite expensive, almost 20 EUR per person.
