Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

Only 1 - one- miss: I did not get the code on time. It was sent from B47 late Sunday evening to my mail. Arriving Reykjavik from Wien in the middle of the night Sunday (01:30) in rainy wether, not having a code to enter B47 when going with the bus, forced me to arrange for a near by hotel (Foss Hotell) for one, the first, night. They were most helpful and gave me a helpful deal, Their night person was very helpful. NEXT day I found B47 and got the code. I had asked for getting a code earlier. Will recommend you to open that possibilty. Some people might have quite a schedule to combine.

United KingdomEntrance wise, they could do with having the various side doors open - it was annoying to have to walk around to the back of the hostel every time I got back. This might have something to do with there being the two hostels in the same building, though? Only other downside was the grumpy looking owner who likes to sit in the dark in the dining area - he owns the place whilst others run it, and apparently he's not a happy chappy. He could do with glowering in his own room! A few more positives: tourist bus stops for booked activities are within a few hundred metres. There's lots of different cuisines about the central city, from traditional Icelandic fare (e.g. Cafe Loki, the much recommended Seabaron and its lobster soup and whale taster), to European, to Asian (there's a lot of Vietnamese restaurants around, some east of the hostel).
I booked a hostel as hotel prices in Iceland are ridiculously high. Even hostel prices are high. My first time in a hostel in about eight years, so glad it was a good experience! Hostel B47 shares the building with another hostel (Baron's Hostel) - I'm not quite sure how the building is split between the two. The builiding is about a 15 minute walk from the bus station where the Airport Transfers drop you (uphill from the bus station, downhill from the hostel). It's a 2 minute walk behind the majestic Hallgrimskirkja church, so it's always easy to find your way back! No problems in getting into the building at all hours: both the main door and rooms have number code locks. The hostel itself is spacious, has lots of bathrooms and toilets (never had a problem accessing one), and seemed to have been recently renovated (there was painting going on whilst I was there). There's good sized kitchens and fridges about each floor and behind reception. There's a larger dining area just beside reception, where you can order some basic fare. I was booked in an 8-bed dorm, which was very large (though 6 of the beds were placed reasonably close to each other, for some reason). There was a basin and mirror in the room. It being Iceland, the heating is excellent! The beds themselves were comfortable. There were a reasonably amount of plug sockets available, but not beside every bed. I can recommend the coffee and cake, both exceptional (and a nice touch with cream being added to the cake) - I had some every day :) Only downside with the rooms was that they could have done with more hooks for hanging jackets, etc. as you do end up wearing a lot of layers for most of the year, there! Re amenities, Rejkjavik is small, so you can get around very easily (especially if you hire one of the local scooters, which can be found about the city).

United KingdomEnjoyed my stay. Thanks to the staff at this property, great facilities. Some people snore… take earplugs (and a face mask for all day sunshine).
Staff were extremely friendly and helpful, they reserved the lower bunk on my request and looked after my bag after check out so I could look around town. The property is in a good location, close to the local swimming pool (with varying temperature natural hot pools) and the bus station to the airport. Bathroom and kitchen facilities were clean and the bed sheets smelt fresh and the bunk bed comfortable. Rooms are basic, but felt secure with codes to get in. There’s a bar, common room, showers and funky decor.

GermanyKitchen just had 2 stoves. Could use some more with this many people staying there and cooking for themselves. Room was very warm (heating turned up a lot). And there was no option to turn down the heating and just a small part of the window could be opened. So we slept warmer than we wanted to.
Super nice, helpful and flexible personnel. Jointly used bathrooms were cleaned frequently and always super clean when I was there. Room was very clean as well with good beds for a hostel.

IrelandThe cleaner came in and was removing some of the bedding off other beds while some of us were still in bed before the check out time which felt a bit unnecessary I felt. The shower water got cut off due to plumbers coming but with no notice, message sent, signs up or anything so needed to go onto a long flight without having a shower which was upsetting.
This place was absolutely awesome! I normally wouldn't stay in a hostel but in particular the 6 bedroom room was a good spacious size. On the last day I stayed in an 8 bed room and that was a bit more squishy so I think it's worth paying the few dollars extra for a 6 bed dorm if staying for a few days. The common areas were excellent especially if you are working remotely. Loads of space to work privately- I could even do video calls in the common areas which was a nice surprise to have quiet spacious areas like this. I might come back and stay for a couple of weeks it was that good for co-working. Staff were friendly.
