Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. My bed-linen was changed every day in such a way that my belongings were replaced to a common territory in the room. And last night of my stay, when my things were again replaced in such a way like it was a noone's bed, someone took over my bed. What was a surprise to come back at night and see someone is sleeping in your bed. In the morning the cleaning guy came at 09:50 and started to clean, although the check-out time is at 11:00 and i wanted yet to sleep for an hour before a long trip back home. That was very strange.

The photos posted on Booking show the better rooms of the hostel. The hostel itself is located in a former hospital building, so be ready for some hospital design choices - lonely sink in the room, linoleum floors. There are 2 kitchens you can use, both get overcrowded and are not super-clean. The shower cabin walls are quite low. The hostel uses code locks, the receptionist has all the codes printed on a sheet of paper that they keep on their table, the table is often unattended, which is not the best security practice if you ask me.
Good location a walking distance from the city centre, a spacious free parking for your car. Clean rooms. Lockers available.

This place had a great location, but the best thing about it is Christina! She sees it as her personal task to make your stay a pleasant one. She's very, very helpful and friendly. The brunch is great value.

The kitchen - not enough space for preparing the food and eating. At 8:30 a guy from the cleaning service entered our room without knocking. Poor Wi-Fi in the room.
The lady in the reception was very nice and helpful (thank you for fresh scrambled eggs for breakfast!). Big parking, it was possible to leave the car after the check-out. The room was big and clean. Many toilets. Good breakfast. Very good location.

The kitchen is very small and a bit cluttered.

The kitchen is tiny and not very organized for the amount of people the hostel supports. No counter space, very limited access to stove. Being a hostel, for the price I would have expected at least soap in the shower and lockers. Also I found the room a bit noisy as at night I could hear the manager talk to other people at the other side of the door.
Staff was great, very nice and helpful. Doors are opened by a code, very convenient. Location is very good.

The hostel is a converted office space, and the flooring hasn't been changed; they really ought to put something down. There was no shoe-changing station unlike most Iceland hostels, so there was a mix of dirty shoes and clean sandals in the common areas. Fix these two issues and the place is nearly perfect!

there was something like a plaster or Kleenex in the shower, so my only complaint would be for the shower room to be cleaner.
The checkin was very good and easy. The room was spacious.

They are changing the code every day so I like the fact for security reasons but it's a bit of hustles when you go out for breakfast and you end to return afterwards. Also we were drying some hiking gear and as they are only small windows to open, the air in the room wasn't really pleasant.
Great location, big parking place and solid WiFi connection. We've spent a night there after 12 days in tent so everything felt like a luxury (no rain, warm, kitchen, electricity :D). Not sure if I'd feel the same under different circumstances but we were definitely happy then.

It was very loud. Doors to rooms slam loudly. Hallway was loud, staff rolling laundry carts down hall very early in the morning. Also site made it sound like breakfast was included, but it was an additional fee.
We loved the location. It was clean and the beds were very comfortable.

I'm not a fan of the smell of the place -- I would get rid of the scented candles.
Fantastic location next to the Hallgrímskirkja and public hot pools. Quiet and comfortable. Very friendly and helpful hosts.

my mattress wasn’t really comfortable and got some issues with the upper spot of the bunk bed.
location is great! near to downtown, next to the pool, 6 minutes from bus stop 8.

The kitchen is really basic. There is a good size fridge though.
Fairly close to the city centre. The hostel is really clean and spacious. The owners wife is really friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay there again.

Not enaught electricity sockets in the rooms. There where no locker in the rooms to put your personal items under a lock.
