Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

CanadaHotel Húsafell is a hidden gem in the middle of nowhere—peaceful and scenic. The beds were super comfortable, and the buffet breakfast hit the spot. Dinner was the real standout: amazing food, great chef, and excellent service. Paula especially made the experience memorable. Highly recommend!

United KingdomThis hotel advertises itself on being a prime location for spotting the Northern Lights and it's really well set up for that, with all-night instant alerts (your room phone will ring 3 times if the aurora is visible) and they'll turn off some outside lights to help aid visibility. The only thing you need to worry about is if there are clouds, and keeping warm enough!! The hotel is also perfect for exploring some of the unique features in the region. We went on the Into the Glacier tour (highly recommended for the views from the top of the glacier, the chance to be on the glacier, and of course the chance to be underneath the ice cap). I also heard great reviews from other guests for the Canyon Bath trip. The hotel has its only geothermally heated pools, which are welcome after a day's hiking and a lovely, clean feature (the run in the cold from the warm changing room to get to the water is a standard feature and part of the fun!) The food in the restaurant was truly exquisite - didn't have a bad meal. My only slight criticism is that there aren't many places to just sit inside and chill out that aren't in high traffic areas or by open doors. It meant that, between the trips, when you have time to kill, there's no bar area to sit in (there's a bar in the restaurant but you can't really sit in there other than at meal times). It's nice that there are separate buildings on the estate you can visit such as the bistro and swimming pool entrance, but not always easy in mid winter. We only stayed 2 nights but I can't see this being somewhere you'd stay for more unless there were specific walks and trips you wanted to do to fill your days.

United KingdomThe room was quite basic for the price of the property
Great property in a unique location for exploring the glaciers and surrounding areas in Iceland. We were there in winter so didn’t get to do many walks but expect is is a good base for hikes in summer! Good spot for the northern lights too and the hotel will call to let you know if there is a chance of seeing them! Great heated outdoor pool area with hot tub and sauna as well

ItalyOur stay was wonderful. Very accessible from Reykjavik, and it was great having a few excursions avaliable right from the hotel. The location is perfect to explore west Iceland. The staff were lovely and the added bonus of the northern lights wake up calls were great for the jet lag - you can rest easy knowing they’ll let you know if the aurora is around!

United KingdomReally lovely hotel - with exceptional food. Honestly, I was not expecting the food to be as mind blowing as it was, it was really out of this world. There was a lovely lady on the night shift that gave us a call for the northern lights - as I was the only one outside over the course of a few hours, she kindly kept coming to check on me. The location of the hotel was perfect for a range of activities (the Into the Glacier tour, Krauma, etc).

United KingdomThe rooms were quite small considering they are so expensive - the towels for for the outside pools could use being renewed .
The staff were lovely at every interaction, in particular our waitress at the bar/ restaurant - the wake up call for the northern lights a beautiful touch. The views are amazing and the outdoor pools are great to enjoy ant the end of the day. - and finally a hotel that includes breakfast. we loved it here.

United KingdomBreakfast included a wide range of options. Main meal menu included couple of tasty vegan choices and the standard of catering was high. Good sized room (double and a sofa bed) and the bathroom was very spacious too. Having a small fridge in the room was helpful. Staff very friendly. A lovely relaxing atmosphere at the hotel. A car is essential really but the location (and the drive there) is beautiful and we made the most of on site facilities and local walks. Northern lights of course cannot be guaranteed but we were lucky on two or our three nights there.

United KingdomNOTHING!
The hotel is a true gem, hidden in Husafell about 2 hours North of Iceland. We hired a car, no issues arriving but would recommend driving in the day time. The hotel is a nice size, with all the usual amenities (Netflix, iron, robes, shower gel etc), breakfast and thermal pools are included in the price and we made use of Happy Hour one night. The restaurant was some of the best food we have ever tasted, we would highly recommend the beef, lamb, soup and desserts! The restaurant overlooks the mountains and glacier which makes for some gorgeous views. The hotel has an optional wake up call for the Northern Lights (we were actually told to go outside during our meal, which was exciting!) and we were really lucky to see them both nights. Even without the lights, the stars and night sky are amazing. I attach photos my boyfriend took! You can also make use of the surrounding area of the hotel which includes many different hiking routes and waterfalls. The hotel and restaurant staff were so helpful and we will definitely return.

United KingdomNothing! Meals were not cheap but its the same everywhere in Iceland. The quality of the food countered this though.
Excellent standards throughout. Very comfortable room. We opted for a mountain view and loved it. Breakfasts were generous and of high quality. The chef produced fantastic meals...art on a plate! An explosion of tastes and textures. Lucky to see the Aurora during our stay. What could be better?

United StatesThe restaurant wasn't very good. It was so expensive and there were no good options for children. There were no good options for most of us either. There is nothing else in the area so you have to eat at their restaurant. If the restaurant would offer some soups or pasta without meat I think it would help. There is only one vegetarian option and it was awful.
We loved the location it was absolutely beautiful. The small mineral pools were fantastic. It was an amazing experience. We really loved it. We would absolutely stay here again. We got a wake up call for the Northern lights and we were able to see them. It was an amazing overall experience.

United StatesA designated northern lights viewing area would be a nice addition to the property - the parking lot, which is where everyone went has alot of artificial lighting and was not ideal for lights viewing.
Every member of the hotel team we met and interacted with was terrific! They smiled, laughed, made conversation, were polite, helpful with needs, etc. etc. The team appears to have created an "internal family" and they really enjoy each other and what they do - that translates to a fantastic guest experience! The restaurant team is exceptional and the chef is very creative. We had some of the best food we've ever eaten there - we ate dinner there 5 nights in a row!
