Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

Rooms and toilets were neat and clean! Hostel is located in the heart of town ! Also you can have the view of Mount Esja when you come outside the hostel !

Location was EXCELLENT! Could walk to almost every place necessary in Reykjavic. Staff was friendly and helpful and gave wonderful local recommendations. Well decorated and appointed building, large communal kitchen, eclectic sitting areas on every floor. Wonderful stay.

Cleanliness of this hostel is not the best, in addition to the construction that is happening. The hostel staff is not the friendliness, one of the staff took one of my own towels that was drying out and threw it away during their cleaning. When I couldn't find it, they just say oh it must have been thrown away (that was my own towel, I have to buy another towel for the rest of my backpacking trip) On my last day, I had a yogurt that I had labelled my name and my check out date but before I even had the chance to eat it, they cleared out the fridges that the check out date was that day.(this was 30 minutes before I had to check out) I addressed it and they just said oh it must have been thrown away. Really frustrating experience
Location is great, you can get to many places by walking or buses

There was a lot of noise constantly in the shared dorm, but there is nothing the hostel could control. Just the common sense from guests could be a bit better.

Everything was too noisy, noise from bad and old forniture and beds obsolete. Bar/restaurant was unusable, as the main parts of the structure. There were works in progress all days. I sleep only one hour in one night, the day after i’ve changed my accommodation to another hotel. The price is nice, but compared to the terrify experience, if you want to sleep at night, i kindly suggest you another place.

During my stay there was a big group of scholars. They have had their activities after 23:00, so it was loud. And sometimes very messy in the kitchen
It was nice and clean. Friendly stuff ⭐️

The hostel was under renovation. There was NO ELEVATOR and reception was on 2nd floor while rooms at 3rd floor. I have to climb the stairs with my bags while check in and check out. I don't mind using stairs but bringing bags along was difficult and so many floors. I asked the reception and they were still not clear when they would get elevator.
I liked the sitting area and the vibe of hostel. The view of the beach and mountains with comfy relaxing vibe was awesome. There are many books to read as well. There are many communal places to sit, relax and talk with other travellers.

Everything was good!

Location: more than perfect ! In front of ocean, 2 blocks to pedestrian street (fool of options to eat, to buy), 4 blocks to big church hill, 6 blocks to old port, Harp concert house and 24h supermarket

Bed squeaked every movement. Wasn’t keen to use bathrooms so left as much as possible. Booked for the live music and bar area for it to be under construction when I got there.
What you would expect for a hostel. Was only there for one night. Staff friendly. Good size room.

Its expensive, they dont clean very much, they package fully the rooms, personnel not very helpful.
The place is in construction, they should mention this in Booking.com. bathrooms and overall installations are Old.
