Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

AustriaIcy entrance, easy to slip.
Great atmosphere, very clean, amazing friendly people and almost every day some events. They do their own pizza, which was very tasty.

United StatesThe shower floors often have build-up, but it isn’t too big of a turn-off and was expected.
Staff was very accommodating and facilities are mostly kept clean — stayed in a bed in the 42-bed dorm and I didn’t have any problems with the arrangements under the control of staff (of course you have disruptions from other guests coming in and leaving for early morning/late night tours, that’s to be expected). Bring shower shoes and your own soap/toiletry products for the hallway showers and bathrooms. There’s often a “graveyard” of soaps and lotions to use if you forget yours.

NetherlandsMost of the people were young the have been partying from Friday till Sunday. I can understand if they do on 1st floor, I was living on 3rd, and the people were shouting/singing on floor only sleeping rooms. I think they need some rules to prohibit them go upstairs and stay on 1st floor. Especially at night time
The people were so nice and friendly. Can explain everything what you need.

United KingdomDue to the high traffic in the bathroom and shower areas, there were quite a few paper towels strewn about. I suppose I could just recommend a few clean sweeps of the bathrooms and showering facilities to sort that out. Other than that, no complaints!
To start, this place very much gives me hipster vibes from London Highbury and Islington or Berlin's Friedrichshain neighbourhoods. Check-in went smoothly and staff were friendly and courteous. The atmosphere was vibrant and social, operating very much like a pub and coworking space. Despite sleeping 42 to a room, I had a great experience at the hostel as it wasn't too noisy and the beds were well-organised with clean linens, storage pockets, shelves, and reading lights. The hostel also brews its own beer and was a great addition to the experience. There was also plenty of seating, excellent decorations, and a great proximity to the city centre of Reykjavik. Lovely place to stay!

United KingdomBunk beds moved a lot, not so stable. If on top bunk difficult to get on, as no where to hold on to properly. Men's showers were not individual.
Location was amazing, only a short walk to the centre and the harbour area. The bar area, chill out area and a large outside decking area.

Netherlands1. The toilet and showers are in the same space - once you get out the shower to put clothes on, it feels like you're doing it in a public toilet (which makes sense but the floor had used paper towels on it that time and smelled like someone peed on the floor). Perhaps weird, but it would be a reason for me to try out another hostel next time just to see if that has a more hygienic shower experience or if it's me. 2.The bin in the bathroom-toilet and toilets was often overflowing with paper towels and paper towels had often run out. Needs some better maintenance or a bigger bin (maybe choose one with a lit to make it look a bit more organized?) If they manage nr. 1 and nr. 2 better, and perhaps buy a bathroom matt and put some scent sticks in there, it would be a huge improvement to me. One small interior thing: 3. The kitchen area on our level (4th floor) wasn't really cosy. Mainly due to the lighting I think. One of the dining chairs is way too low in there as well. Could use a bit more love, this space.
1. The interior of the hostel (very vintage) 2. The HUGE café/bar/restaurant downstairs where there was always a nice atmosphere. Always gave a nice welcome when entering the hostel. We didn't have a drink there but always peeked in on our way to hour rooms after we had gone out exploring for the day. 3. The towel rent wasn't that expensive (7 euros) 4. The price - we only spend €30/night (we were there during off-season though, 2nd week of November) 5. The size of the single-bed dormitory mattress - actually enough for 2 people to spoon in (tested and proved with my boyfriend, haha) 6. The big frigde - had enough space for our groceries 7. The little metal organizer near the head-side of the bed - was convenient 8. The location - a 5 min walk away from being in dead centre Reykjavik, really great
