Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

South AfricaIt’s a hostel, so it’s noisy, you share bathrooms, and the smell of the kitchen cooking, but it’s expected from a hostel.
Its a fun and interesting Hostel, with loads going on. We had a private room which was great and the breakfast was tasty and affordable. Breakfast staff was friendly and helpful. It’s in a good location, with paid parking before 6pm.

United KingdomSome staff seemed a little cold, others were very welcoming. The comfort of the space depended on who you were sharing with, which also determined cleanliness to some extent. Showers could be more frequently maintained.
Fantastic social spaces and facilities! Pizza there is great, but drinks are expensive (normal for Iceland, however). Relaxing place to be :)

United KingdomCutlery in the shared kitchen often ran low-empty so keep in mind if you will be using it a lot. Didn't realise that it was such a hive of activity in the city, with the bar becoming very busy with loud music playing until midnight which could still be heard 2 floors up! Also, regarding noise, our door rattled every time someone else closed a door in our hall so a doorstop to use from the inside could be helpful if you are easily disturbed. The stone steps that take you to each floor are a slippery nightmare and there's no elevator which, combined especially, can make lugging heavy suitcases up and down quite interesting! Parking can be tricky to find outside, thankfully we struck it lucky each time and managed to remain fairly close by and within the P3 (cheaper) parking zone but this is something to be mindful of if renting a vehicle. Full of travelling hipsters but easily avoided by not using common areas!
Basic bedroom but toasty warm with the radiator on, despite strong minus temperature wind outside. Fab seaview too!

NetherlandsThe acoustic of the building wasn't very good. Sounds went up to the dorms somehow, could be disturbing if a party happens downstairs or in the kitchen. Poor accessibility.
Nice location, a few minutes walk from the main street, and is offered as a pickup/dropoff place from the airport. Great views and very nice bar. They have music every now and then. Cozy atmosphere during winter.

GermanyThere are barely any electric sockets in the room. There are no power strips either and it's not guaranteed that you will get a power outlet within reach of your bed. There are no nightstand shelves either, so not much room to put small stuff like glasses or phone.
It's a very social hostel. People are open to being approached and talked to. The showers and bathrooms are very comfortable. There is a kitchen in the bar which offers more affordable food than most restaurants in the area.

United StatesRooms are not sound proof and being a busy hostel, there's a bit of coming and going with associated noise although I wasn't particularly disturbed...and earplugs are supplied if required.
Centrally located and price for a double room with private facilities, while still somewhat expensive, was reasonable by Icelandic standards. Loved the funky decor!
