Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty

To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

A sauna or hot tub option would have made it the best hotel after a cold snowy day. But everything was perfect otherwise.
Great breakfast, lovely location. Hotel was really nice, bar was lovely and the cocktails were great.

Very comfortable and roomy accommodation. The hotel had an excellent restaurant and bar, and was very spacious. The hotel staff were wonderful and woke us up one night so that we could see the northern lights.

Hard to explain, but hotel lacks soul. Sterile throughout, including the personalities of the staff. They were inflexible and almost dictating. Probably following direction from management or owners. This was our 7th night in Iceland. I had prepaid accommodation at each location, and unusually, no hotel had asked for a credit card on arrival for incidentals. So when this hotel asked for one, it almost felt like they didn’t trust me. What is normal practice globally, wasn’t normal practice in Iceland…so it felt weird. Not sure why this annoyed me so much. A few hours later we went looking for the lights. Nothing. On returning to the hotel we looked up and there they were. We stood in the cold watching them for 5 mins or so but then ventured in and asked reception if we could watch from the restaurant. He said no. Would it have really been that big a drama if we just stood there for 5 or 10 mins? I feel like I’m being hyper critical, but in simple words the vibe of the hotel was ‘cold’. I wouldn’t stay again.
Newly renovated, everything worked. Lots of power points in room for charging, good lighting, good shower in working order, breakfast was good.

Restaurant service wasn’t the best, but not bad at all.
Excellent food, spacious rooms, very clean, staff are excellent and very accommodating and friendly. Food was excellent as well.

Welcoming, nice chap who checked us in, very chatty gave us a few tips. Booked us in for the evening meal. Breakfast was good! Rooms warm and comfortable. A good location between Vík and the diamond beach / lagoon. It’s still 1hr40 in the morning to the beach but a great stop!

We were stuck in a snow storm while having dinner at Systrakaffi (they have the best crostini) roads were closed and luckily we found hotel Klauster just 350m away so we decided to spend the night. The staff was very kind, the room was clean and bed comfortable. They also offered a really nice breakfast including fresh salmon and fruits.

The car park was frozen, so quite dangerous to walk across.
Nice quiet warm room. Breakfast was good, polite staff, would stay again. The restaurant was expensive for dinner.

There was a little too cold in the room because there was only one small electric inverter for heating.
Staff was friendly and helpfull. Room was big and clean .

The sink is too small. This is maybe the style in Iceland because the sinks are always small in all the hotels we stay in Iceland.
Breakfast. Good shower and shampoo gel. No strange smell of hot water.

We were greeted warmly by the helpful front desk staff. The rooms were clean and featured modern minimalist decor and a comfortable beds with some extra amenities including towel warmers in the bath. Breakfast featured a lovely buffet in the dining room. There are cool photo books of Iceland to look through in the lobby and lounge areas. For dinner, we walked to the restaurant just down the street and had some really good pizza. We even caught a show of the northern lights from a darker spot in town.

There is limited choice around for eating - to be expected in this part of the country though.
The staff we encountered were all lovely, tasty breakfast included in the price and the room had all the necessary facilities and was quite big. Would recommend to all in the area.
