Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews

Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Really nice area to explore the highlands of the east of Iceland. Clean and comfortable with nice hot tubs as part of the property. Breakfast and dinner also available.

The rooms are incredibly small and not soundproofed. There has not been enough thought put into how to design a small space for two people. Even coat hooks on the door would help.
The location and waterfall circle hike was the singular highlight of our trip to Iceland even with all the daily amazing experiences. The spa pools are incredible and the staff was super accommodating (even with challenging dietary limitations).

Perhaps we were bit missing a common kitchen accesible for a case the offered food is not suiting our dietrary needs. We were also instructed during the booking to give a advance call to secure our food and choose from various options. This was apparently not needed as there was only one food option and the cook arrived almost at the same time as we did.
Really nice and modern place in a wonderful remote location. We only stayed there for one nigt but I wish I could have stayed longer there (provided thereis a good weather outside). The staff was very friendly and helpfull. The food was good. As a bonus I really liked the natural hot pools otside, especially in the miserable weather we experienced there.

The staff were so friendly and personable. Very clean facilities. The hot pools were amazing, especially after a long day of hiking. Loved the isolated surroundings as well. Very relaxing and secluded.

Very good dinner and breakfast. Great view from hot springs. There are beautiful waterfalls very close to the object.

No common kitchen, can't eat or cook own food, showers could be nicer (shampoo, hooks, etc. missing), rooms very small and spartanic

Room could have had a bit more hooks or something where to hang clothing, towels, etc.
Very friendly service, adapted to our food intolerances on short notice. There were enough shared toilets and they are on the same floor as rooms. Hot springs were obviously also very nice.

It is a location in the Highlands that is accessible. Mostly paved roads and close to a regional center. The drive is beautiful. The hikes around the lodge are accessible and varied for different skill levels. The hot pools are glorious.

Everything was nice but I was very upset that they charged me for coffee in the morning. I've been all around Iceland this is the only place that didn't offer complimentary tea and coffee and I think it's rude and just gross.

Away from everything, lovely hot tubs, the 5 waterfalls walk is extraordinary and fairly easy.

The rooms were very small and plain, also not many available outlets. The room was decent for the price though.

Private showers would have been nice, but that doesn't seem to be a thing in Iceland at most places.

The address of the hostel provided in Booking was not accurate and that made the drive in the dense fog rather stressful. The provided phone number is not correct.
Nice breakfast with a perfect view of the mountains. Very nice hot tubs outside the hostel.

an oasis of life in the middle of nature. Friendly and helpful staff, not only informed about the local rules, but also gave a lot of advice about the condition of the hike and the surrounding roads. Thermal baths are a great way to relax. Thank you!

Unfortunately there is no public kitchen, therefore you must either buy (expensive) meals from the hostel, or cook at the parkingplace

The hotel has been transferred by a old farm. It missed isolation between the rooms. We can hear the guests' talking. But Hot springs is very nice.
