Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United StatesCoffee in the morning comes from a machine. If you want a cappuccino you pay extra.
The location is stellar. We had a room with view of the (frozen) lake. The hotel is sitting on a hill, so you could see the aurora easily if the weather had cooperated. The staff does give you wake-up calls for the Northern Lights! Dinner was wonderful, even if the menu is limited, and very expensive. We had the Blue Ling and the prawn ravioli.

AustraliaWe drove over the mountain through a white-out blizzard and were thankfully able to check in a little early. Staff were super-helpful and we felt very welcome. Drove back to Hverir once the storm cleared and that was cool. Came back to an aurora alert in the evening and a comfy sleep once the adrenaline wore off. Clean, modern hotel in a great location. Loved the window-seat for watching the lights.

United KingdomStayed 3 nights on our ring road, road trip. Great base. As March, we had a couple of snowy days but still able to get around. Had breakfast all 3 days, really good start to each day. Ate in the restaurant on our 1st night, great food. Also saw the aurora Borealis.... wonderful experience.

United KingdomThe washbasin was more like a fingerbowl. The 2 single beds were clearly meant to be pushed together for a double. My bed was pushed up against a wall and the pillows concealed the light switches so I had to be sure I moved down the bed in order not to switch the lights on! The room was very warm, so we left a window slightly ajar to get some sleep. For those who like a Continental breakfast the quality of meats was not very good and less choice of nuts and fruit to have with your yoghurt compared to our previous hotel in Akureyri.
Amazing location fantastic views. We were lucky to see the Aurora that evening. It's close to Lake Myvatn and the thermal springs Nice bar area and dining area. Evening meal was very good, we ate ling, excellent.GF issues accommodated Also close to Dettifoss falls and Godafoss falls which were amazing. For those who love an English cooked breakfast, you can get that here. GF bread available on request

United KingdomWanted a little piece of luxury in the middle of nowhere to unwind, hopefully see some Northern Lights and see a little more of Iceland at our leisure during the day. That's what we got - extremely dark skies, very comfortable hotel, and in an exceptionally pretty setting. The bed was extremely comfortable, the bathroom spacious and the shower hot. Really liked the underfloor heating in the bathroom. Breakfast was very good (and you could help yourself to as much as you liked), and I really liked that there was seating all around the hotel, facing in any direction you could want. I loved the design of the hotel - beautifully simple, low to the ground and you didn't feel like you were on top of the other guests. My only criticism (and it was because it was one of the reasons I booked this hotel) is that the Northern Lights wake up call is only up until midnight when I'd understood it was an all night thing. As it happened, it worked out fine for us, and we saw the lights before midnight, but it could have been very sad if they'd come after midnight! And it's only a criticism because I didn't think this was made clear (and I was specifically looking for this feature). We went in the middle of February and the snows came hard while we were there, but because it's only a little way off route 1, it was no problem to drive to - one of the reasons I booked this place. Would definitely recommend.

United StatesWe really enjoyed our stay. While the room was small, we didn’t need anything more. It was spotlessly clean and had a nice bathroom with excellent hot water for showers. The views from our room and common areas were vast and stunning. Breakfast was really good each day. Staff were very kind and helpful. The northern lights wake up call is such a great perk! They knocked on our door to alert us to the lights, allowing us to relax but also see the aurora for the first time ever- very exciting and a beautiful experience! The location was convenient for visiting so many sights in the area. We would definitely stay again.

United StatesThe restaurant had limited hours and was a little pricey which is normal but sad. Not a lot of other options around to eat so I wish they maybe had another place in the hotel to eat at - less fancy one
Starting by the location - the hotel is by the lake with nothing around besides nature, absolutely beautiful. The room was very clean and the bathroom was HUGE. I absolutely loved the big window with a gorgeous view.
