Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

SwitzerlandWe got a much smaller room than what we paid for, instead of a 15 sqm double room with a lake view, we got a tiny hole with "view" of the breakfast room. Breakfast was until 10, at 9.30 almost all was gone, including plates cups and cutlery, we had to ask the staff 3 times to have these. We had to clean the table smashed with jam after the previous guests, the staff at least gave a paper towel to do it. Also the showers were not clean and it was very difficult to set the temperature to neither extreme hot, nor ice cold. There are plenty of laces for the same price around. Go elsewhere...
Nice location

United StatesThere was no staff anywhere at night. There was one person around at breakfast but there was no coffee and she couldn’t solve the problem.
It was convenient to where we needed to go.

NetherlandsThe building really needs some attention, everything is clean, but is feels that nobody paid attention for the last 30 years. If they would paint the walls it would already help
Very good value for money, this was our cheapest stay in our 2 week trip in Iceland, but it had everything we needed. The breakfast is nice: croissants, bread, boiled eggs, yoghurt, fruit The kitchen had everything you need for cooking The room had a comfortable bed, but was a bit basic. During our stay it was very quiet

PortugalThe place looks abandoned, without a reception and not a single person around. Tiny room, like a prison cell. Shared bathroom at the end of the hall, but without showers, which were at the bottom floor, two flights of stairs down. The showers are like prison showers with no privacy. Just a common space with 10 showers.. Weak breakfast with most things missing and a basket of rotting fruit. Truly bad for what it is, but completely abysmal for the price you're paying. I've stayed in incomparably better places in Iceland for a much lower price.
Nothing positive to say

Hong KongTerrible value for money.
Staff very rude. Refused to answer basic questions. Was not just us - everyone. We had to change rooms. Wifi was not working and no answers on this. Breakfast was poor. But the worst was the staff.

United StatesThe hosts were communicative and helpful before we arrived. Our room was clean and comfortable, and there was room at the ends of our beds for our luggage, as well as a few hooks on the door. The curtains blocked out enough light for us to sleep well. The showers are "locker room style" (I think this used to be a school...), but my dad had a nice, hot shower; the bathrooms we used were also clean. Our breakfast was included, and there were several choices- fruit, yogurt, hard-boiled eggs, vegetables, breads, meat and cheese. The area was quiet, and we felt safe. We arrived easily after seeing sights on the Golden Circle. Thank you for a nice stay!

LatviaGuest House has a good location - not far from the road, at the same time in a very quiet place. It was really spacious room and comfortable bed. Although it was very windy evening and night, in our room was rather calm and quiet. There are 2 big kitchens that are well equipped and it was interesting experience to stay in this place. Nearby there is a hydroelectric station that can be one of places to visit during a stay.

MacauBooking clearly included breakfast, but the property did not offer breakfast. Rooms old and felt like a 1970's student dormitory. Bathroom was very basic. Bed lumpy. Property did not feel like it was set up for winter guests. Overall - a disappointing experience.

United StatesI was supposed to be in a tent but ended up with a very small room, not sure what happened, but it was all fine.
For a shared bathroom place, it was quite nice. I am not one to share spaces with others, but it worked out great and the breakfaste was "wonderful." I would do it again.

SpainIceland has a serious tourist accommodation problem. This particular hostel possibly only makes sense in this country. The building seems abandoned, the rooms are clean but the rest not so much, especially the kitchen. There is only one shower per floor, so in case of crowding you have to go to the gym showers. Surreal. It should cost 5 times less
The absence of staff and that the place was actually a school, with access to the kitchen and other places, is somewhat funny, although it vaguely reminds us of the hotel of The Shining

United StatesBecause our reservation was last minute, I didn't know how to check in. We were able to find a staff person to get it figured out. All of the instructions come by email or through the Booking.com app.
We had an unexpected cancellation at another hotel and staying at Ljosafoss was a last minute decision. It went way beyond my expectations! We stayed in a family suite that was huge and had a living room. The shared bathrooms were very clean, beds were comfortable, and the breakfast served in the morning was delicious! There was a gym for my kids to run around in and the location was perfect for all Golden Circle destinations.

GermanyThe property was an old schoolhouse and we stayed in a "glamping" yurt out the back. However, this property did not meet our expectations of what a glamping accommodation should offer. For roughly 4x the price of the average campsite in the area, the only advantage was the mattress and sheets in the yurt. We arrived to find a collection of yurts in the middle of a field behind the old school, with the field looking like it hadn't been mowed in a very long time. We had to wade through knee-high grass in order to reach our yurt. This also lead to us finding at least 6 live and rather large spiders inside—one even under the covers! Overall, the property appeared as if a minimal amount of work had been put into rennovating it from a former school to a hotel and glamping accommodation. The inside, including bathrooms, the breakfast area, and the kitchen was clean, but unless you need a quick place to stay, I would look elsewhere.
The location of the property was great and easy to find. The breakfast also met expectations.
