A beautifully furnished hotel with hearty and healthful breakfasts and a kind host.

A bit of choice at breakfast that could be made the night before would be awesome such as a different juice for those of us who favor reduced-acid foods, etc. Alternatively, I could have mentioned this at check-in. Tea availability outside breakfast hours, perhaps with a biscuit, would have been a nice addition.

The hotel public areas and our room were beautifully and tastefully furnished. The bathroom looked like it has just been remodeled: stunning! It was great to have a separate sitting area with desk and table as we flew home from Reykjavik and had much reorganizing of luggage our last night at the hotel. The breakfast was presented on a tray with a variety of delicious goodies including crunchy addition to generous yogurt. Our host was engaging, helpful in his suggestion for how to spend our last few hours in the area before heading to the airport, and very helpful having taken our suitcases by hand to our second (we'd consider it third) floor room. The bed was wonderfully comfortable. The location allowed us to walk everywhere. Parking was free on the street in front of the hotel. We had expected street parking to be fully occupied and we would need a public garage. Thank you for a great stay.

Nothing at all, it was perfect for me and my needs

Hotel Phoenix is perfectly situated to walk into central Reykjavik and only 2 min walk from bus stop #13 for airport shuttles and tour pick up/drop offs. The hotel itself is a bit more like a B&B, but the room I was in was by far the cleanest I have ever encountered, it was absolutely spotless! Breakfast was brilliant, and the two gents running the place were very kind, friendly and helpful with advice.

Nice and clean room. Very good location, very close to several bus stops (where tours start) and the main street with shops, restaurants etc. Nice breakfast. Great staff - very friendly and helpful, gave me advice about places to visit, food to try, shared information about Iceland etc.

Not really anything that stands out. The slight sulphur smell from the shower didn't bother us and was explained on arrival by the hosts as its naturally heated from geothermal activity. This was similar when we stayed in New Zealand at Rotarua

Close to city centre and a few minutes to bus stop for tour pick up point. Room was very clean and the hosts very helpful. Breakfast was filling and the bed super comfortable. Wifi was quick, bathroom was clean and the Icelandic mineral shower nice and hot.Best 2 🌟 hotel we've stayed in.

Perfect end to a month long journey through Scandinavia and Iceland

    Nothing. It was all good.

The Hotel Phoenix was our last place (and favorite) of stay during our month long journey through Scandinavia and Iceland. It came after a Viking Ocean Cruise and stays at Hilton's in Stockholm and Helsinki. We had the best experience as the hotel owners treated us in a special way and helped guide us during our time in Reykjavik. Of course, the breakfast was over the top and the location provided us quick access to the downtown happenings as well as the bus stop for our Golden Circle and South Coast tours.

This tiny hotel is safe, well managed, clean and the two gentleman that run it are just awesome. I was there for work but the hotel is in walking distance from main Reykjavik attractions. I passed them by every day. It is also a minute away from bus stop 13 where you can be picked up for your ride to the airport. I do recommend the Phoenix wholeheartedly.

This was our second stay at Hotel Phoenix, and we will definitely be back on our next trip to Reykjavik. We felt right at home, except it was better than home! The owners are friendly, welcoming, and with a great sense of humor. They gave us great tips on places to see in Reykjavik. The hotel is beautiful, clean, and centrally located. Also, they serve the best breakfast. This is hands down the best hotel in Reykjavik!

This is a small four story quaint old building with stairs only. No elevator but staff offered to bring up our luggage.

Pretty boutique hotel. Cozy, comfortable suite-included a small sitting area that looked out to their back garden. Requested a room with a shower. I assume each room is slightly different. Breakfast was served every morning and was a wonderful European selection. Great breads, cheese, meat, spreads and excellent yogurt parfait. Endless coffee and tea. WIFI worked fine. Staff was helpful with travel ideas and restaurant suggestions. Free parking outside the hotel. We stayed for 4 nights and made it our home base for exploring the beautiful country of Iceland.

I would have liked a kettle in the room.

The room was very quiet, bed was comfortable, everything was very clean and the hotel smelled nice and fresh. The staff was extremely service minded and was keen on helping, answering questions and suggesting great restaurants. I had a great and relaxing stay here. The breakfast platter was fresh and kept me energetic through the day.

The hotel is exceptional, located near the main street and bus stops, the environment is amazing, the breakfast fabulous with fresh bread every morning, skyr, juice, cold cuts, cheese, even boiled eggs. The room is very spacious, clean, beautifully decorated and with amazingly comfortable bed. The gentlemen at the reception are the best you could imagine: very helpful, kind, always smiling and with a good sense of humor. It was a treat to stay there. Highly recommend!

    Cold room and uninvited owner!
    • Leisure trip
    • Couple

The owner is so snarky and has and answer to everything. Let's see what he has to say this time. You really don't feel at ease there. You feel like you are the guest is someone's house that does not really want guest but has to. THe breakfast is till 9h30 and not 9h31 after 9h30 you can dream to have more coffee or tea at the breakfast table there is even a last call at 9h20 if you wan. THe room are cold and the bathroom even more. THey will tell you that it is normal in iceland and that if you have a big heater in the room it becomes too warm. Which is simpy not true because in other accommodation they give you a heater if you are cold and the heater are not pocket size for a room 26m2.

The bus stop not far to go everywhere further away from the center.
