There is no staff, anyone can just walk in it feels like. Others had booked later in the evening, received a confirmation etc., but were not able to check in. Truly unhelpful staff via telephone. Microwave broken.

Nice kitchen with plenty of room in fridges etc., bathrooms were adequate, and the place was very warm, which is always nice in the winter. They should just really put in some more effort regarding safety and check-in/out.

The facility in the rooms was limited (which should be expected). And it appeared that no staff onsite.

The hotel was well located at the center of Selfoss, close by major roads, groceries and restaurants. The self-check-in was easy, room was clean and functional. Although the rooms did not have private bathrooms, but the shared bathrooms were plenty and well equipped. The heater was very powerful and kept the rooms warm in winter. The shared kitchen was large and well equipped- you can pretty much make any food as you were at home.

Ventilation could be better in the bathrooms.

Cozy beds, big and clean hostel, nice big showers, I think the floors were heated! I slept so well and had such a nice shower.

High pitch non stop beeping every 5 seconds that couldn't be turned off coming from reception.

Great kitchen, nice simple room. Extra nice to have sink in room. One bathroom was extra comfy. Perfume free bedding!! Extra good for those of us with allergies.

We booked a double room for 1 night, it was clean, nice and really confortable. Shared bathroom clean and big, nice forniture. Shared kitchen is very big, perfectly equiped, clean. Self-check-in easy. We really recommend Selfoss hostel

It was a bit strange that no personnel was there during the whole stay. The concept of the place is for it to function without staff. For me this always feels a bit like someone does not want to put a lot of effort in the place and just make money with it. But as I said before, my stay was quite okay. - the place was not dirty, but also not very clean. This could be better. - the bed and also the chairs in the kitchen were old and not very comfortable. For a short stay, this was okay for me.

I was a bit sceptical when I found quite a few critical reviews. In the end, I booked a bed in the biggest dorm with 8 beds, of which only 2 were used that night. + The location is pretty good. + The bed was decent. It was not a very comfortable one but it was okay for the night + Bathrooms were clean + Kitchen was clean + Place was very quiet + Shades in bedroom worked well with the sun always being up in August + Free parking in front of the house + Price (40€ for one night) was okay for Iceland

Although self check in is convenient, we didn’t see anybody in the reception during our stay. Sometimes it is nice to have a little human interaction with the people that host you 😅

There wasn't really anything I didn't like, but maybe compared to other hostels it was a little bit pricier.

It's a self check-in hostel. You have supermarkets, gas stations, pharmacy, bakeries and anything you need close by. I had a private room with a small bed and a sink, which was very convenient. The kitchen was big with all the necessary equipment. It was very quiet at night, maybe because there weren't many other guests around.

Bedroom was a bit small. Checkin was a bit confusing as they leave all the empty room keys on the front desk and ask you to select the type of room you have booked.
