Our experience was very pleasant, although room was small was very well layout with a chair and lamp. We would definitely select this hotel again if traveling to region. Breakfast was also very nice with many choices.

There was very few options for dinner and they are expensive. So we went to a nearby restaurant for dinner.

The place is simple, clean, quiet and plenty of parking space. Breakfast is included. The garden is beautiful with the church nearby.

The room was too hot and you can't open any windows. Opening the main door did not help, as the room is part of a long corridor.

This was a super cool location. It is quite remote which is even more charming, all you can see out front is fields for miles. We had a view of the church that just added to it all! The manager/owner of the hotel was wonderful, very helpful, personable and friendly.

Hotel, corridors and rooms are so nicely decorated. We were lucky to see the northern lights just 5 minutes by car from the hotel. Room is very cozy, a bit small but efficient for 1 night on a roadtrip. Staff is super kind.

If there's anything, the heaters were quite noisy and the rooms could be soundproofed better.

Cute hotel in the midst of beautiful nowhere, but also in the midst of the Golden Circle. Perfect as a home base for visiting many beautiful sites. Includes two charming living rooms for everybody. Thank you very much!

The room was very coy. The drive to the hotel is very scenic and enjoyable. I had a room with a view to the Skalholt Church and the mountain. Very atmospheric view. The staff was also very friendly. Highly recommend.

Hot water pressure in our room was a little low, but worked fine.

Location was great for the golden loop. Very friendly staff. Very tidy room and grounds. We can early off season and the church attached to the grounds was closed for renovations, but a small turf church was open. Converted school, so there are some nuances that may be unexpected. Great value.

I liked Hótel Skálholt, good reception, simple but pleasant facilities. Beautiful scenery in the location of the hotel. Near the extinct Vulcan Kerid, Geyser, Gullfoss, and Secret Lagoon.

Lovely hotel with a great view over fields and lake and archeological site. Birds in the morning and evening and quiet and piecefull allonestanding location. Big livingroom and a wintergarden for relaxing or the evening. Breakfast was excellent with a homemade kambuchashot as a starter. The hosts are very friendly and kind with tipps for the next tour. Although easy to find, it is a little remote. I suppose that might be good to some, though.

Staff was lovely. An amazing place to stay - only wish we had time to get in breakfast before rushing off the next morning. Would recommend to anyone staying in the area. Light pollution from the nearby town's greenhouse would likely prevent any aurora sightings though, but we had cloud cover that night, so not sure.

We had an amazing stop here on our first night in Iceland. The hosts were extremely friendly and gave some great advice. Despite staying in the February winter and the area being particularly quiet , they put on a lovely breakfast buffet and offered us our first try of Kombucha, which was much tastier than I imagined. The hotel was nicely equipped and had some lovely views of the cathedral and surroundings. A truly beautiful and peaceful location. I would highly recommend staying here.

I can not find enough words to describe how good, delicious, sublime was the food. You can see the dedication of the chef on each bite of the food. The chef manage at a perfection level the fermentation technique and the food have a flavor that make you go to bed with a big smile. The hotel is located next to a historic excavation and next to it there is an church where you can find an old baseman with a tunel and some surprising miniadventure. I want to add that the building well maintained, clean and the rooms are very co for table. . Thanks hotel Skalholt for providing us such a nice stay!!
