Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Just hard to get to due to the snowstorms and noisy through the walls but not surprised since the bar was super busy.

The property was modern and well maintained. Despite being a hostel, the beds had a privacy curtain to provide you with your own private area.

Be aware that the rooms with private bathrooms are not located in the main building so one has to go out and walk a few meters when using the bar or kitchen. Kitchen is well equipped, but could imagine it to be too small (especially seating places) if the hostel is fully booked.
Great double rooms with private bathrooms! Very clean and spacious. Staff was always very helpful and tried to help where they could, e.g. getting rid of water in front of the entrance after heavy rain. Great bar offering drinks and cocktails. Very comfortable beds.

I think the rooms could be improved by adding bins into them, and perhaps a mirror, as well as more plug sockets.
quiet location and near all the south Iceland tourist attractions. was clean and I liked the blackout blinds on the double beds in the room with several double beds.

you need to put a sign on the door on second floor double dorms. people walk to heavily down the hall when others are trying to sleep. common scene to some others not so much

The location is really great since it is super closed to the Black Sand Beach. This place has everything, such as a public kitchen and public bathroom. Parking is easy, we were able to park outside.

The temperature of shower was too cold. It was not a choice for winter season for me.
People gather at a shared kitchen, where a lot of communication occurs. I really like it.

absolutely nothing! this was an amazing stay!!
this has to be the best hostel I have ever stayed in! few notes! - I stayed in the ground floor, 6 bed dorm. all beds were doubles!! mattresses were very soft and new. all beds were bespoked together so nothing creaked or made noises when you slept. the hostel is finely decorated and put together. there’s a bar inside that also serves food and the price is actually reasonable. huge full kitchen to use at your disposal and free fast Wi-Fi. shower rooms were separate to bathrooms and all were single and private. never stayed in a hostel like it before. by far the best experience I have ever had.

- too little room for the luggage in the room - shower room gets flooded easily and there is nothing really to store the belongings/clothes/shoes dry - I haven’t found any hair drier

They don't have a TON of food options but you can defffffinitely get coffee and alcohol at all hours :) My shower was luke warm at night but my friends said their showers in the morning were HOT so I just picked the wrong time with the crowd.
This place was suuuuuuper nice and cozy for a hostel. Very modern look. Very clean. AND EACH BUNK IS A FULL SIZED BED! We got snowed in the morning we were supposed to leave and the staff was super supportive. They have coffee and food and alcohol, our stay was so so comfortable in such a cute town.
