We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United StatesI booked a room with several other people sharing bunks in the same room. A few other people were noisy until 11 PM.
It is clean and comfortable. I like the privacy curtains around each bunk. Decor is fresh and modern.

United KingdomKitchen was awful. Far to busy and impractical. Did not like how the showers and toilets were location right by the reception. Lounge area was strange - more like a hotel lobby. Felt like the hostel was trying to be like a hotel which did not work in my opinion.
Location was nice and onsite bar with happy hour a good perk

LithuaniaThe room we received already had 4 people living and they had their stuff all around the room and left us without having any place to put our stuff, so I think it needs more organizing like if you have this bed, your place for luggages are here and etc

United StatesThe layout and design of the common area for those in the dorms is poorly thought out. The sinks where people brush their teeth and all other hygiene has all tiny sinks with nowhere to place anything, so the fact they don’t have hooks to hang a towel or your toiletry bag is super inconvenient and makes actually tending to yourself hard has you place things on the floor or between your legs. The dorm rooms have essentially no storage- none. And the walk way between isn’t big enough to keep a bag without tripping someone. The beds were comfortable and once I was settled I got a good nights sleep. The lobby where people sit was nicely decorated. I opted out of not taking a shower because every common area was pure chaos with people just trying to find a space to be.

United StatesThe walls are very thin -- I could hear every word the neighbors were saying even though they were talking in a normal to quiet voice. I felt like they were in the same room with us and that was terribly annoying. Also there are two shared bathrooms for the entire hallway of guests but only one of the bathrooms was facilitated during our stay and the other was closed (don't know why). So it was inconvenient to wait to use the toilet and the shower. I booked a room with a view with hopes of seeing the aurora borealis but it was overlooking the parking lot with lots of cars pulling in and out with their headlights on so it wasn't what I expected.
I liked the simplicity, the rustic vibe. I liked the ample kitchen space and the cleanliness of everything. Staff was very nice. I liked the different prepared waters they offered to guests and the hang out area.

United StatesDO NOT BOOK AT THIS HOTEL. UNETHICAL HOTEL STAFF AND SERVICES. There is nothing booking.com can do for you if you get a room that does not meet bare minimum hygiene standards. What should have been a simple check in process took longer than expected at the front desk even though it was quiet ( we were only ones waiting at front desk). They gave us a room at the furthest end of the property and repeatedly they stated I had the very last room available and that there was absolutely nothing else available. On getting into the room we noticed straight away that there was heavy mold in the ventilation system (which is an issue for anyone who has respiratory issues) and the toilet was dirty. Pictures taken of both and reported to booking.com. Since the hotel had told us that there were no rooms available already we were forced to find other emergency accommodation late in the evening and had to split up what was a 3 day stay at one hotel across two hotels instead at a higher cost. The hotel then offers us an alternative HOURS later when a full refund was demanded from this hotel due to breach in service terms of substandard hotel room given. We were told that miraculously a room has -now- been made available due to a "last minute cancellation" and we would even be "upgraded" for free. Completely ethical behavior when they were unsympathetic to being left out in the cold and rain with no other option but to rebook elsewhere in first place. We had already scrambled to find alternative so couldn't now cancel that. We should have been offered this in first place. Hotel's conduct on this entire debacle is unprofessional and highly suspect. Quality provided is well below what would be expected for a private hotel room with a private bath which was the "highest grade available" at this hotel with total price being over $500. They offered us a 50% discount in writing and yet only refunded one night out the three when NONE were used.
Not far from center of Vik town center.

New ZealandSomethings need a little improvement. For example we were in a room with 6 double beds (so 12 people) that only had holders for 6 bags, and had limited hooks. The shower was also cold, although they are big there is no heating.
The barn was very busy while we were there - it had a beautiful view and a well equipped and labeled kitchen.

United StatesThey only had four toilets for the entire 1st floor of hostel (I’m guessing 30+ people). These were the only private spaces for people to change in, so these toilet rooms were always full. Also, while the kitchen had lots of counter space, overall it was quite small for so many people to be using it. The dining area didn’t have enough seats. Thankfully everyone was very friendly and respectful. These were the bigger issues, but I will also say that the bed was hard, pillow was lumpy, and the rooms did not have great storage for people to put their belongings.
The hostel was very modern and clean. It was very close to a famous beach, and only a 5 minute drive into the main town. There were lots of showers and sinks.

SingaporeThe shared kitchen could be way hectic during peak hours although this is expected in the nature of a hostel with many guests

NetherlandsMaybe I missed some stuff online, but I thought I booked a 4bed dorm. Turns out its double beds so there were double the number of people in a pretty small dormitory. There was not much room to place your stuff, so I just grabbed the necessities out of my car and left the rest in the trunk. My bad luck for having roomies that for sure haven't learned proper hostel etiquette. Slept very little because of it. The kitchen, however large and well equipped it was, it was still very crowded for the number of people staying at the place. Same for toilets and bathrooms.
The vibe is very chic and having stayed in hostels many times, I can honestly say this one was beyond beautiful. Did not feel like your stereotype hostel. Located pretty much next to the black beach and a 10 min drive from vik. The bar is nice.

United StatesThe showers were bad-- if more than one or two people were showering at the same time, the water pressure was awful and the temperature would fluctuate, staying mostly freezing cold but periodically leaping to boiling, I assume when someone else turned off their shower. The rainshower style shower heads are pretty, but the low pressure and gentle drips were not much help getting sand grit out of hair and anywhere else it got caked in. It's also weird you have to walk through the lobby to get to and from the showers, strange layout. Our door to our room was not able to fully close. The kitchen has empty drawers that should be filled with more plates, bowls, cups and cutlery, we were waiting on folks washing their dishes so we could get spoons
The staff were very helpful. The kitchen was clean and has a nice view and everything worked. I liked the curtains around the beds, and being right up the road from the famous black sand beach was nice. We enjoyed playing board games in the lobby. There was loads of parking. Way more affordable than anywhere else near Vík we could find.
