Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews

Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

Beware there aren't many amenities nearby (although this is quite common in south east Iceland). Nearest restaurant is about 10 minutes driving
Nice guesthouse in south east Iceland, located a short 20 mins drive away from Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon. Nice cosy room with en-suite bathroom, and free breakfast included.

We didn't try the food here so there wasn't much of anything bad to say. It may be a little remote for some folks but this may be what some folks want as well.
Floors were heated which was nice when we arrived in March - cold outside. The location is remote and you will need a car. Wifi was strong and we had a family room with two separate rooms. The space was ok for 4 individuals but I wouldn't try any more than that. We were able to see the auroras from outside the hotel room.

The showerhead was broken, lacked pressure. This was the most expensive guesthouse we paid for in Iceland and there was no kitchen for us to use, we had to use the one that was at the hostel in a different building which many people don't know about (we only found out by reading the reviews on here). There was no reception for us to talk to anyone. The closest restaurant was over 10ks away. Breakfast was very basic. Wifi was also a hit and miss at times, not very reliable.
We stayed here for two nights. The room was modern and spacious with the mountains close by. Breakfast provided.

The only minus about this place was a VERY sqeaky bunk bed. unfortunately it made it very hard to sleep. The other beds were good.
Very nice and clean room with a direct view of the mountain! Nice bathroom. And easy check in.

No vegetables at breakfast. We arrived a bit late, so there wasn't much left of the very limited range of other items either. The water flow in the shower is weak.
A modern room with a minimal design, spotlessly clean. Parking is very close, right outside the room. The breakfast is reasonable. The proximity to the glacier lagoon is very good. The view from the window is beautiful.

We came in the evening, there was a microwave in the corridor but there wasn’t any plates or forks and knives, we contacted the property the same evening but didn’t receive any answer

No hot water for shower in the evening. After a cold windy day this was very disappointing. The shower was a bit warmer in the morning but only just. We DO know how to work these sorts of showers so it was not user error. Towels were very thin (after a tepid shower this was very noticeable). Only a single flat pillow each.
Clean and secure room. Breakfast was adequate.
