Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United StatesThe view was breathtaking. It is definitely not in a city - but the views were worth it. We had a delicious dinner at the hotel (expensive) but great quality - and again there isn't really anywhere for you to go near by. Recommend making reservations even if the hotel looks empty.

GermanyThe view from our rooms was hindered by the construction. The hotel is very close to Hofn, which is nothing interesting to see, but quite far from other touristic places.

AustraliaVery disappointed to arrive and find one side of our corner suite masked by scaffolding with workmen on, having to keep blinds down for privacy. This detracted from our stay. After the Glacier Lagoon, the restaurant here was definitely lower standard also. We chose to find somewhere else to eat the second night.
After the first Fosshotel we were really looking forward to this one but the feeling of luxury was definitely missing, and while it was nice it was nowhere near as good, or value for money. We had a suite and the room was spacious with lovely views. We were treated to auroras our first night and the balcony was perfect viewing.

New ZealandThe hotel could do with some refurbishment. The paint and carpet should be renewed. The rooms were a bit small compared to other rooms we had in Iceland.

ChinaOur bathroom is suitable for disabled person, so there is no shower curtain which caused the whole bathroom floor wet after shower, I think this could be improved.
Rooms are OK, but a little bit far from center, view of bar is nice, staff are nice, except when we arrive the credit card machine is broken. But few hours later it works again.

United StatesIt was a bit dated. And they wanted to charge for a an of early checkin. We did get a free upgrade through booking as we had requested rooms next to each other so that was good.

United StatesNot comparable to other fosshotels at the same price point.
Be aware that part of the hotel is different than the rest and has no elevator for the stairs. There were no washcloths and only 2 bath and 2 hand towels in the room. The shower is super tiny and like some weird corner closing closet shower that I’ve never seen before ever and was not cool. At this price point calling a twin room/normal double for 2 people room an “economy room “ is laughable and instead it needs to be renovated. Didn’t realize it was like that or I could’ve easily picked a different option. Was so put off by the room and the carpet in the hallways and just the overall experience we left for dinner and tried to recover the evening by an excellent dinner outside of the hotel. Was asked 3 times at breakfast for my room number- would be better if they had someone stand there and check people in. Definitely not coming there to steal their lackluster breakfast. But other hotel guests tell our room number and didn’t pay for breakfast- so they should ask for the last name. I actually paid for the breakfast so it was pretty weird.
