Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomEverything was perfect, except that Booking.com needs to change its information! You say that ALL rooms have balconies, but this is not true! To avoid any more misunderstandings with the lovely lady who runs the hotel, who doesn't speak English, please could you urgently change your website to say that only SOME rooms have balconies, and that if you want one, you need to request this! Thank you.
Everything was fantastic! At the beginning there was a misunderstanding, because unfortunately Booking.com says that every room has a balcony, but in fact it doesn't - the lady told us that only some rooms have balconies, and we had been booked into one without, because we hadn't requested one. She only speaks Italian, and I speak a little, so we managed to sort it out and move to a different room, with a balcony (we didn't mind that it wasn't en-suite). So this was definitely Booking.com's fault!! - not hers! Make sure that you ask for a balcony specifically if you want one! The hotel is on the 5th floor (you go up with a very old, traditional lift), and there was a super view over Palermo to the mountains and the sea. It is a family-run hotel, extremely traditional, and the ONLY place we stayed in, in the whole of Sicily, where EVERYTHING WORKED! - the shower, the toilet, the bidet, the TV, etc - it was so nice to find this spotless hotel, run with pride by a lovely family. Many places at this budget are a bit decrepit, but the Albergo Cavour was the exception - I would absolutely recommend it as a convenient place to stay near Palermo station. In addition the lady gave us an excellent recommendation for a place to eat nearby in the evening, and we really enjoyed our meal! In the morning she brought our breakfast (coffee and cake, which you can choose the night before) into our room on a hostess trolley - fantastic!

ItalyI didn’t like that we did not get to see everything that was available. Had we more time, we would have been very happy to stay at Albergo Cavour longer.
Excellent location for day trips, restaurants, walking around, museums, shopping. Breakfast cornetti and cappuccini amazing! The owners extremely nice.

We were delighted with our stay. Perfect location in a quiet side street close to the station but also well positioned for walking around Palermo’s historic centre. The hotel is on the fifth floor (there’s a lift) of a renovated old apartment building with a beautiful marble stairwell. Our room was freshly decorated and very clean, simply furnished in antique style. The bathroom was spacious and the shower hot. A generous breakfast of local bakery items was served in the room. Sra Maria recommended an excellent trattoria close by for our evening meal and we ate there both nights. This is a one star hotel with a four star welcome!

United KingdomIt was hard to find and took us a few minutes to realise it was on the 5th floor in what appeared to be a residential building with a number of occupants. A few homeless people were outside, one helped us find the hotel.
Location was ideal for the train station which is what we wanted for one night. The breakfast was simple but nice, brought to our room on time. We arrived late and tired and the staff got us checked in and to our room quickly. Very clean room and very comfortable bed.

AustriaThe parking situation is not that easy, but parking is secured at the backyard of the building. Thus you have to leave the car-key so they can arrange for the best consumption of the limited space.
The hotel is situated within an apartment on the fifth floor of an old building; thus fortunately an ancient elevator provides you the uplift. The view is great and the facilities are good; even enough cloth hangers are provided. Breakfast is delivered directly to the room.

United StatesNoise in room 24/7 from some hum/rumble in the walls that would happen every 10 seconds and last 5 sec.. for our entire stay- day and night… Room was part of someone’s household, and the noise from members of the household was incredible.. talking in LOUD voices right outside your room… if you want a quiet place, this is NOT it.. Finally, advertised as room with sea view…but see my photo of the sea view…
Nice location near train station, bus station, and easy walk to many sights, markets, etc..good value..

United KingdomMore a basic B and B than a hotel. I had to preorder breakfast to be delivered to the room at a certain time, so not very flexible. Not much choice for breakfast. Cold floors could use a rug. Blankets on bed looked very old. More plug points needed.
Very clean, near train station, comfy bed. Value for money.

BulgariaI expected a hotel, it turned out to be private apartment of a family on a 5th floor of a building, which gives some of the rooms they do not use. Staff is friendly but hardly speaks English. The corridor is dim and you pass by the hosting family kitchen. There was a constant low frequency noise during the night, probably from the very old elevator in the building. The wooden side of the bed was moving freely aside from the mattress and was squeeking on the floor when touched even lightly.
Location is good, close to transport and ballaro market.

United StatesBreakfast was not great....no eggs and plenty of pastries. Language was a little bit difficult. Would have been great to have family room where all 5 of us were in 1 room, or having 2 adjoining rooms.
Location was very good...close to major attractions, but still quiet enough to get good sleep. Parking is available. The rooms were very clean. Staff were very friendly, though English language was a challenge, requiring translation app.
