Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

Great location - in the old city center behind the city walls, 10 min walk from Piazza del Campo. A very old building but the apartment is fully equipped and renewed. Very quiet. A real feel of a medieval building from the inside.

There wasn’t anything to dislike.
Everything was great from the welcome when we arrived to our departure. We stayed two nights and our room was fine for us. We had a little balcony which allowed fresh air into our room. There was a kettle in our room and also a well equipped communal kitchen facility. Breakfast downstairs was really good also.

Beautiful little place. Our room was charming and comfortable and it’s in an ideal location. Really appreciated that as well as the inclusion of breakfast, guests can make full use of the well-appointed kitchen, which we did. Michael, the host, is friendly, courteous and well-informed. It was a pleasure to have met him.

The bed was a bit hard, I'm used to softer beds now, but still had a good night sleep. The bedsheets were a bit itchy but not the pillows. The tap and flush are a bit different but I managed to find how they work. Breakfast was outside on the bar - it as good but small. Not an issue, just be aware of it.
Very close to the town center. Quiet. Very spacious room and bathroom with a lovely decoration. Michele was an excellent host and gave me good tips for the town and was keen on feedback. Possible to leave luggage after checkout. There's an elevator, small but works well.

Bed was very hard, woke with pain in hips both mornings. Breakfast at bar was not as documented. Only a croissant, OJ, and coffee - two other items listed in card provided by guesthouse not provided.
Fantastic location! Five minute walk to Duomo and Campo. Wonderful bars and restaurants nearby. Breakfast provided in bar downstairs, good idea. Access to full kitchen. Elevator.

Everything was great. We needed dish clothes and that was taken care of right away once we asked. It would be nice to have salt/pepper, sugar and more espresso capsules. There were a few small packages of these items but not enough for our group or the time we spent at the home. We purchased our own at the grocery store which is 2 minutes from the apartment.
Location was amazing. The apartment was large, clean, comfortable and well stocked. We appreciated the washing machine and the space to lay out our laundry to dry. It was very easy to communicate with the host and they were very responsive.

A couple of flights of stairs but really nothing to complain about. Its location is perfect.

There was nothing bad to report
La Fontanina is such a fabulous B&B The host was very attentive and helpful. We couldn’t fault the accommodation. It is so central to Siena’s historical area.

Service rather abrupt we thought, a smile wouldn’t have gone amiss! Toilet in restaurant awful but not unusual for the area in my experience
Continental breakfast at bar next door. Choice of croissants and breadstuffs. Allowed 4 ‘free’ items if staying at bnb. Very reasonably priced coffee etc if you wanted extra.

Everything was great. The apartment is very charming and comfortable. Miguele, the host, and his mother were very kind and attentive to us. Having breakfast is a positive highlight. It was a perfect stay!

Great accommodation, and Michele the host was so kind and helpful. It was only a short, day and a half stay, but we went to two of his food recommendations, and both were excellent. Breakfast was served in a cute bar just downstairs: basic, but super fresh, great coffee, and an adequate start to the day.

We loved our stay at La Fontanina! My partner and I were here for a wedding over the weekend and stayed to explore Siena. This was the perfect location in Siena- walkable and close to everything but still quiet at night. The room and facilities were great and a/c was excellent. The hosts were so kind and helpful throughout our stay, but they went above and beyond to help us adjust our plans during a train strike that coincided with the day we were supposed to leave. We had a phenomenal stay and will absolutely come back here.

The bathroom is a bit smelly, but overall fine.
Amazing location and great value for money. Michele is lovely, and gave us useful advice in Siena, as well as a parking reduction. Good croissant for breakfast.
