Fabulous renovated hotel located in the Sassi de Matera with a contemporary fit out making it a unique experience. We were impressed with hotel staff and the shuttle service provided to/from our car parking.

This was one of the grottos converted to a hotel room. It was an exceptional experience staying there, despite the miserable weather in the middle of May. The room was enchanting. The staff went out of their way to make my stay pleasant. Breakfast was excellent and for dinner there are plenty of restaurants nearby. It was a pleasure walking through the old town and admiring the architecture and the views --despite the rain and the cold.

United States1 reviewVery GoodThey need a bar. Or at least opportunities for cocktails on arrival. A glass of wine while enjoying the spectacular view would be a special moment. Rooms are quite nice. Beds are a tad stiff and low to the ground for older folks but it is very impressive what they have done with the rooms overall. Staff is excellent. Very kind. Very thoughtful. And most of all very excited about the city of Matera and eager to share their knowledge. Overall a great experience.
Location was beautiful. Breakfast was tasty but limited choices.

Slovenia24 Reviews3 helpful votes“Unique”On the page it says that there is parking available, which is not actually true ( there are no parkings in Sassi), but it is also not a problem , because they pick you up and drive you to the hotel and back to wherever you park.
Location is superb. Hotel is in the first row by the canyon. Sleeping in Sassi was really enjoyable and unique. Views from the outdoor terrace were wonderful. The staff are really nice. We would definitely stay again.

If you go to Matera , stay at Basiliani hotel. It is a wonderful discovery. The view from the room is amazing, the hotel staff is super welcoming and helpfull, the beds are confortable and the situation of the hotel is a little exentrated from the bustle of the city center so you can sit and relax . The breakfast was really good and we sat outside on the terrasse enjoying the quietness and the beautiful view. To summarize: go, go, go...

The location was just incredible. Our room opened up to the gorge.. Hard to describe, but we were just above this incredible canyon. It did mean that very often there were tourists right outside our door, but really it was one of the prettiest spots in the city. The "restaurant street" is right behind the hotel, so that helps too. Breakfast was a basic cold cuts /yoghurt/fruit spread. Could have been better for sure.

The place was magical. The hotel is in a great location, and you are part of the old town. Amazing experience. The room was spacious; the people at the hotel super nice and very helpful. I fully recommend this Hotel .
