I had the first morning breakfast with additional payment, but overall menu were not truly satisfactory. I know the breakfast is only 15 EUR per person, but there are not many menu to taste. But, you can enjoy coffee and breakfast which you probably should pay same expense out of hotel for a coffee and bread.

Overall, I paid very highly due to Bologna Children's Book Fair season. Roughly paid 2~3 times more than usual. However, without the cost consideration, the hotel itself is very satisfactory. The staffs at the reception desk are all of them very friendly. I've been to many other hotels around the world and these staffs are among top 10% in terms of friendliness. Location is perfect, just in front of the main station. Room size is quite OK. Also, very practically, there are more than a few towel/clothes hanger which were very useful.

The place has apparently introduced a new rule for a tip request at the end of stay; quite unusual for Italy and surprising for a place like the Excelsior.

Always a pleasure to stay at the Starhotels Excelsior. The hotel is great, though expensive. The staff is helpfull and let me complete an early check-in for free. The breakfast is just awesome; cannot do without.

Neighborhood was really chaotic next to the train station, we had to walk about fifteen minutes to get to main tourist areas.

Super comfortable bed and fold out bed was comfortable also. Good location close to train station got further travel.

The hotel was extremely professional, clean and functional. My room was a good size, with an excellent bathroom. Check in was simple and the location is brilliant... right next to the train station and in walking distance to everything you'd want to see in Bologna. We only stayed one night but it did the job. A good breakfast too.

The gym lacked large weights. Actually, the image showed slightly better weights than the actual ones (probably they bought new ones, and of lower weights). but it is useless to have weights 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9-10, if there are no 15, 20 or 22.5.

1: Location: very close to station ( 5min by walking). City center is like 15 minutes walk. They have also very pizzeria nearby. You can take help from reception for reservations in any pizzeria restaurant. 2: staff : good , helpful and very cooperative throughout the stay. 3: Room size : ok could be little better for family room. 4: Breakfast: they don’t have much option in breakfast menu. If you are omlete lover then don’t book breakfast buffer because for omlete you need to pay extra 5 euro and same for pancake. 5: noise level : not at all noisy 6: comfort level : beds are really good . We all have very nice sleep .

The bathroom, including both the bathtub and shower, was a bit outdated. Additionally, although we were three guests, we found only one bathrobe and two pairs of slippers in the room. However, for a one-night stay, this was not a major issue. The main downside of our experience was the reception staff. The receptionist I interacted with was not very communicative and displayed a somewhat condescending attitude, which was quite frustrating. I had completed the fast check-in online as per the hotel's email instructions, considering our late arrival at 22:30. However, the receptionist showed no acknowledgment of this. Instead, he requested all our passports (EU citizens), spent some time at the computer, and then asked for my daughter's age—even though he already had her passport in hand and the information was clearly stated in the Booking reservation. He then asked us to pay for the room in advance, which we did. I found this request slightly offensive and had never happened to me before, but perhaps it’s just hotel policy—I’m not sure. The next morning, when I asked the same receptionist for directions to the breakfast restaurant, he responded with the same dismissive attitude. This experience left me wondering why I had received emails from Starhotels Excelsior promoting a fast online check-in process—where I was supposed to simply provide my reservation number and collect my room key—along with an express check-out option that would allow payment authorization the NEXT day. Unfortunately, the actual process did not align with these promises.

The hotel's location—right across from Bologna Centrale Station—was incredibly convenient. We appreciated the stylish design of both the room and the hotel, the comfy beds, as well as the cleanliness. A lovely touch was the small surprise treats waiting for us in the room. Breakfast offered a diverse selection of food, and the restaurant staff were both friendly and efficient.
