Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomThe location was perfect. Right in the city centre, the hotel had everything I needed. I felt very safe here as a solo travel. Would definitely recommend. My room also had a great view which I specifically asked for when booking.

AustraliaAntiquated room, hair dryer was taped together and burnt my hand after a few seconds. Window shutter was broken so couldn't be shut at night on a very busy street. Lift is only big enough for one person and siutcase and starts after a flight of stairs.

TurkeyThe only advantage of the hotel is its central location. It's terribly old. Staff give you hundreds of instructions at check-in, very tiring. Nobody entered our room but we didn't feel very safe during the night. There is nothing about soundproofing, it was like we were together with the guests in the next and upper rooms. Although it does not overshadow the magic of the city, it is a facility that we do not like and would not recommend to anyone.

United StatesTime stopped here-- this hotel and room have not been updated since WW2. My room (# 33) was nowhere near looking like the photos and the lobby glamor shot is taken from a generous angle. At least 1/4 the rooms on my floor were "shared bathroom"-- meaning the hotel room did not have one and patrons had to use the the one in the hall like a hotel or B&B. The mattress was minimal, old and hard and the bedding was, well, it matched the decor and the mattress. The hotel desk staff (mangers?) appear to be an older couple-- husband and wife. She was very helpful; the husband, well, not so much. They are minimally "bilingual". Yes, yes, I understand that it is Italy and English is not the native language, but when the property is advertised as "bilingual staff", expect to be graded by that assertion. To be fair, both of their English was far better than my Italian, but communication was a struggle at times. There are lots of little rules posted everywhere-- "leave your room key at the front desk when you leave the property" (WHAT?!?) , "no luggage on the beds", etc... You can say you have to give up a little for the convenient location, but earlier in my visit, I stayed at an e-Club hotel 1 blk form the train station and it was perfectly fine (very good-- 7-9 out of 10) in all categories for a similar price. There are many many many other hotel options in the immediate area, as well. The hotel is rated 2-star, but I would argue for 1 to 1.5-star and might have been happier in the end if it was rated as such-- my expectations would have been met and I might have been pleasantly surprised with aspects of the property. I am not bitter or angry. At the right price and knowing what you are getting into, Hotel Lorena is a workable stay. However, I think they put a bit too much lipstick on the pig, so to speak, and, in general, I think people will be disappointed.
The location is very convenient-- 2 blks from the Florence train station and in a cozy square above the Medici museum. Its central location makes it an easy walk to anywhere in the Florence historic district. If you arrive early, you can check your luggage until your room is ready. Members of the front desk staff where very accommodating and tried to be as helpful as they could to help with individual circumstances.

PanamaI paid for a one person room, when I got to my room I noticed my room had a big bed and a small one. While doing my checkout I was ambushed by a staff member who allegedly told me to use just the little bed claiming she had given me those instructions in spanish, which may be true because I understood a few words, however her accent and the distance she told me that in ( around 20 meters away) didn’t allow me to understand what the lady was trying to say. It was truly a turning factor on my perception of the hotel since the treatment I had received so far was perfect.

AustraliaHOWEVER!!! the room did not have a working bathroom!! The shower - or what appeared as the shower - was squashed in the corner of the bathroom right next to to the toilet and with barely room to stand. Once the shower water was turned on there was little water pressure but it sprayed all over the toilet, the toilet paper and the floor of the bathroom. It was impossible to wash in there. I ended up simply using the handbasin to wash. There was no way to wash my hair or really wash. This was pretty miserable especially in the cold weather of January. Also but less important, the room itself is very old fashioned, looking like it has had better days. There's no breakfast available and the whole of the hotel feels as if it has seen much better days. If you see the photos on Booking.com it looks a lot grander than the faded reality of what it currently is, a place well past it's time and a hotel currently rated at two stars that surely should only be one star at the very most!
The location was excellent, just a few minutes from the Duomo and very close to the train station. Also the room was extremely quiet, with soundproof double locked windows and good heating. Being in such a convenient location it was easy to step out at night and easily find dinner at wonderful restaurants near by.
