Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

NorwayI was in Bolzano for work. The internet connection at the hotel was bad, meaning I could not do much work from my room.
The location is good, the room was clean, and the staff was friendly.

CanadaThe pillows were not great.
We loved our stay at this hotel. We were close enough to walk to sites plus the city transit was a stone's throw from the hotel. Our room was clean and comfortable. Staff were very helpful answering the several questions we had. We had purchased wine at a local store and realized we did not have a corkscrew. Restaurant staff were happy to open the bottle for us.

United StatesAt dinner The dining room was 100% full with guests on package tours! We never ate dinner at the hotel. This was a pity. Very small bathroom. 15 euros was a bit too expensive for the breakfast buffet. Bikes need some maintenance- many needed air in the tires. We tried 5 bikes before we found one that was ok.
Very good value overall. The front desk staff were friendly, helpful and were able to speak English. Very helpful with bicycle rental. The breakfast buffet was good, not great. 15 Euros was a bit expensive for the quality. Excellent location in charming and quiet part of Bolzano. Easy walk to park l, old town, cafes bars good restaurants and supermarket. Our room and bathroom were immaculate and comfortable. The bathroom was a bit too small and the bedroom was really only big enough for the bed - but was ok for our needs and for 3 nights. A really simple but charming hotel with a sense of history - not a boring franchise.

United KingdomWe were a little concerned that the room key (physical key not keycard) was the same key for the front door of the hotel, implying any guest could access any room? Otherwise no problems.
Very nice room, with a balcony with great views of the mountains. Good sized bathroom and very clean. Staff were very helpful and service was good.

United KingdomNot much! It was all good. I personally preferred room 302 to room 52, but they were both great and the balconies were fab. I was in room 302 on Midsummer's night and got an incredible photo of the moon from my balcony!
I've stayed here twice in the last 2 weeks because it was so lovely the first time. I had to travel to Bolzano because my husband was airlifted from an Alp to the local hospital. I had a room with a balcony both times. This a really lovely hotel. Friendly staff, warm, clean, so comfortable, great facilities, delicious breakfasts, free transport around the city and in the cable car with the Bozen Card. I found Hotel Gries to be a very peaceful welcoming retreat in an absolutely stunning location, given that it's in the centre of a city, during a particularly scary couple of weeks. With the sound of church bells echoing off the mountains as I sat on my balcony, I particularly loved room 302.

AustraliaThe church bells were very loud and persistant starting early on Sunday (7am) I thought the hotel was a lot closer to the station than it actually was.
Staff were magnificent - storing my luggage till pickup, and recommending some of the locaal sights that were amazing. The Bolzano card gave discounts that were very worthwhile and not rubbish.

AustriaRelatively small room might be an issue in case of a longer stay.
Two night stay on road trip through Italy. Conveniently located at the edge of the city. Still within walking distance to the center and main attractions. Comfortable bed. Quiet location of room with balcony in second building away from the main plaza. Good choice of cafes and restaurants in the vicinity of the hotel. Parking garage at preferred rate for hotel guests close by. Added bonus of hotel providing guests with Bozen Card (free public transport & entrance to a number of museums,etc.). Overall good value.

United StatesFront desk staff wasn't always that friendly. Our air conditioning was not working properly and went on and off randomly and the front desk staff said they didn't know what to do so they didn't do anything to help. Breakfast food was cold (eggs) and they didn't tell us they were about to clean up and didn't give us a chance to finish getting food before putting some away. Breakfast staff wasn't super friendly or helpful
Clean rooms. Property was in nice condition. Good communication prior to arrival. I had several questions that were answered promptly. They also sent good information ahead of time

Italy- the lift does not reach the fourth floor and stops operating in the hours when the reception is not manned - the mirror of the bathroom basin was not that suitable for women's make-up
- you can reach the city centre o foot (or by bus no. 10) - the hotel provides the customers with the Bolzano card, allowing free entrance to museums and free use of the transportation system (in the whole of South Tirol) - the hotel has a partnership with a neighbouring car park at a discount price per day

Had a lift that could fit 3 people and luggage, and went to all floors. Great location - easy access to Bolzano. The reception staff extremely helpful. Gave information on transport, and attractions.
