Real Bookers. Real stays. Real opinions.
Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

ItalyWhat an amazing experience! The Rifugio di Mare is absolutely unique- a historic building completely immersed in nature, with a friendly and attentive staff. When we stayed there at the beginning of April we were the only guests, but all of the services were available and the staff are ready for the high season to start.

SwitzerlandWeird vibes with the staff; couple were pros/great and welcoming, some were distant and some (unclear if really staff or not) were hanging around observing with no clear purpose barely saying hello. As the place is a huis clos, it felt a bit awkward at times.
Location in the middle of the park, spectacular views, Giulietta the fox, the terrace, food quality

United KingdomThe only thing to be mindful of is that you cannot drive to the hotel. There are shuttle buses, however as long as you give them 30 minutes notice they were very accommodating
An incredible find. Would highly recommended!

IrelandLocation, sightseeings, all the staff - specially the night ones that served us for dinner everyday. They accommodated our request for a very early shuttle as we booked a boat tour far away so needed a shuttle for 6am. My husband asked for wine and flowers in the room as it was my birthday and everything was carefully arranged. Breakfast is simple but tasty, dinners too. The little fox that comes by everyday is the cutest visitor ever. We had such a great time in there and we highly recommend this place.

United KingdomThe views are breathtaking, walking through the park and immersing yourself in everything it has to offer is a rare treat, whilst the shuttle provides a fun alternative. For those wanting a more considered pace, paired back accommodation that intentionally reflects and complements its surroundings, then this is for you. The staff are truly the most welcoming, friendly and accommodating, I felt at home as soon as I arrived at the entrance of the park. The food was varied and delicious, and the selection of drinks are definitely worth sampling too. There’s a real energy in the restaurant during the evening hours as the sun is setting, making the whole dining experience even more special. It’s very evident that a lot of love has gone in to this place, and that everyone working here is passionate about this project and the service they provide. Renting an e-bike as means to explore the area was great fun and I was able to discover the historic town, beaches and sites with ease. Thank you, I hope to return!!

ItalyIt is a spectacular location for endless sea views, gorgeous forest and fauna, swimming coves, and star gazing. The Rifugio di Mare is run by a friendly and dedicated group of individuals who are also the visionaries behind the rehabilitation of the 2nd World War stone structures and paths into an ecological sanctuary and place of peace. After a day of walking, sun and swimming, we returned for the 8 p.m. four-course dinner of regional dishes beautifully executed in the open kitchen. Rooms are spacious, comfortable, and modern modern. The original structure, which houses 5 rooms, the restaurant and breakfast room, is well integrated into the landscape, all operating with self-sufficient solar energy. Highly recommend. We will be back.

GermanyWe had a wonderful stay and enjoyed nice drinks and long, tasty dinners outside every evening. Perfect stay for a getaway with your special someone. I was initially concerned about arranging transport from the car park to the Rifugio (you can’t park right by the Rifugio and will be transported by golf cart from the parking lot, takes about 10 minutes). We did leave the Rifugio and took day trips in the area every day. The staff were incredible responsive and dropped us off/picked us up at the parking lot on our schedule.

United StatesThe shuttle can be a little annoying but they were very accommodating about it. The breakfast leaves a little bit to be desired but they had nice coffee and pastries.
It was such an amazing secluded location. So peaceful and calm in the middle of nature. The views were exceptional and it may have the best sunset in the area. The staff was very nice and we enjoyed having dinner there both nights, which also happened to be a great value ($35 euro per couple per night). We would definitely come back.

SwitzerlandVery quiet, remote and comfortable hotel in the heart of nature and not far from some great beaches (by car) Comfortable room in a well-renovated refuge. Wonderful views. It was so surprising to find ourselves in the middle of preserved natural park having high-standard dinner and drinks. The staff is more than welcoming and kind, always there to content you with great services and recommendations. We've spent a wonderful time there.

My family w two teenagers loved staying at Rifugio! The location is beautiful and peaceful, with many walking paths around the guest house. The family room was well appointed, super clean, and spacious. The staff were all smiley and friendly and accomodating. The dinner was excellent and is not to be missed. An intimate experience w chef-made food that rivals a fine dining city experience. It was my son’s birthday and the staff prepared delicious chocolate cake for his breakfast. We highly recommend Rifugio di Mare!

United KingdomThis place is unique. The renovation of the old barracks, the location, views and respect for its place in an ecologic park make for a beautiful, relaxing, bespoke experience. The staff are so warm and friendly always happy to help & guide but also give you space. Simone, Doris and the team really make you feel welcome. I commend them for trying to offer high quality alternative low impact tourism. The food is excellent, locally sourced, probably the best in Alghero. The rooms are well appointed too. The rifugio is in the ecological protected site so the only neighbours you have are birds, foxes, plants and trees. It's a good walk up from the carpark about 40 mins but there is an electric shuttle bus. We used bikes to get around which was simple and a great way to explore. There are gorgeous little quiet coves for swimming in the park you get them to yourselves. If you are the sort of person who enjoys being independent, nature, walking, cycling, good architecture and food then this is certainly a great place to stay. If you prefer lying by a pool and and being near facilities then I would recommend coming the the restaurant at least once to see what you think. The rifugio is in its first year, I suspect it will become very popular indeed.
