Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

We we given an internal room which had a balcony door onto a roof.. the vents from the restaurant kitchen were very very loud and it was difficult to drown out the noise and the smell was awful... it filled our whole room. The actual hotel was difficult to find.
The staff were amazing.. they went over and beyond to assist us with where the best spots were in the city and the best times to visit the tourist spots. The rooms were very old but extremely well serviced with cleaning everyday.

The towels, bedding and room were unclean. The room is much smaller than expected and poorly designed. No bedside table or lamp, room has weired shape with a step in the middle, the images online does not accuratley represents the rooms. bad wifi

The room / property itself was run down. The room was very basic and lacked personality. The bathroom was run down, however, it was cleaned on a daily basis.
Location was amazing. You were able to walk to all the main site and restaurants which was brilliant. The surrounding area also felt very safe.

Probably the sinks! Taps too high from the bowl so a bit splashy but doesn’t put you off.
Brilliant location. Furthest place to walk was The Vatican and that was only 25 minutes. So many sightseeing spots on your doorstep. Staff more than helpful. Were excellent.

The bathroom could’ve been cleaner.
Location was great! Centrally located to everything you want to see in Rome within 15mins of walking distance. Staff was very nice.

Expensive for the quality. Room was on the small side, wifi connection was very poor, could not be used at all. There was no bottled water available on arrival in the room. Pillows and bed were not comfortable.

the hotel was in an excellent location , the room was big with a nice view , clean and cosy. The best was the receptionist which was amazing , kind and ready to provide me all the information about the sideseing , he made my stay comfortable and helped me a lot ! thank you . The building seems a little threatening when you first arrive as it is a very old residential building which has been re-modled for accommodation. Works really well and is so convenient.
The location is great for seeing the main sites of Rome. There are many great restaurants within easy walking distance. The room is very comfortable and clean and the reception staff are very helpful.

Not one thing loved my stay at the Suite Art Novana
The location,staff, room quality you just couldn't fault anything really, value for money, for some it might be a little noisy due to the road beside you from the city street but didnt bother us 1 bit. Staff were so nice and very helpful with the attractions Daniela especially
