United StatesI did not like that if your room is located on the opposite end of the property you will have to walk quite a distance to get to any food. All of the restaurants are located together and near a sister property, Secrets Wild Orchid. Room service takes quite a while to receive and there is a chance they may not get your order right. Thus you’re having to wait another 45 minutes at least. I also didn’t like that there was not a sitting area in the lobby. If you have mobility issues yet needed assistance from the front desk, you’d have to sit in the piano room which is secluded from the lobby. I also didn’t like the fact that for the property to be so massive, they didn’t have enough chairs and umbrellas at the pools. If you didn’t get up early before breakfast to claim a chair and umbrella, you would not have a seat. That was very disappointing. To pay all that money to stay there and can’t even get a chair and umbrella. I also didn’t like the fact that staff members would not take no for an answer when being offered spa services or time share presentations. They are very persistent which creates a not so relaxing vibe.
The property was very clean, spacious, modern. Nice beach.

United StatesThe property was amazing but due to the rain we were limited on our movements. With no restaurants on the main building, during the rain all services were not available and we were stuck. If the buildings has hoping covered walk ways this would have been an amazing facility. During rain we could have went shopping or go dining but this was not possible. This was bad design and very disappointing.
The property was amazing, the staff were wonderful and the availability of snacks and drinks were great. Live the shopping facility.

JamaicaThe waitress at the French Restaurant just gave us the meal and left us. She did not return until we spied her and asked for steak knives as the normal knife could not cut the lamb chips we ordered. Then she didn’t ask how was the meal , she just left us for about half of an hour, she returned. We were anxiously awaiting for our desert, but left without getting any. We were in room 3136 and we went there on Tuesday night.

United KingdomThe hotel is worn and tired - especially the rooms. Although they do their best to keep the rooms clean, compared to other Secrets (Mexico for example) we could really notice the difference.
Secrets St James has incredibly friendly staff. Always greeted with a warm welcome and a big smile everyday. The restaurants / food was incredible too. The Caribbean restaurant was authentic and very tasty,

United StatesYou could tell that the hotel was a bit older in comparison to the accommodations at Breathless. It was still a nice room, just caulking and tiles showed signs of repair in the bathroom area. The drinks could have been stronger at certain bars as well.

Our stay at Secrets ways great! The only con we had of the whole trip was check in took almost 2 hours. I blame this more to irate and rude guests being impatient and cutting line more than the staff. I approached a nice man named J'amaal who informed a kind young lady named Tiffany and she sorted us out quickly thereafter. The rest of the trip was amazing! The restaurant and bar staff were all great! Philip, Andre, O'Brian, Alvin, and Everett took the time to establish great relationships with us and always made us feel welcome. The musicians and entertainment were also amazing and TJ and Sky were very helpful for letting us know of upcoming events and getting us involved throughout our visit.
