“Stunning isolated location in a 102 year old traditional lodge. Large outdoor baths allow plenty of space and privacy. Rooms are large and beautiful. Yukata can be swapped out as required. Dining menus are very local, plentiful and delicious.”
“The property is modern, contemporary and clean. With a wonderfully calm atmosphere and great views of the near by hills and river. Each room has its own onsen on the balcony. The staff are friendly and so helpful. They even called ahead for us to see if some things we wanted to do were open. We can’t wait to come back!”

“We loved our stay
The outdoor onsen is superb
They supply swimwear (your own can not be worn)
The highlight was sitting in the outside onsen with snow falling (end March)
Tattoos are welcome
The room was quite spacious - just 1 room with a sitting room that could be closed off at night.
My family loved the traditional dinner and breakfast
Drink vending machine
Free shuttle bus was appreciated”
“It was so peaceful and relaxed. Tami is a true artist and has created an amazing workspace and I am so glad that I chose here rather than staying in a conventional hotel and hiding away in my room …there was always someone to chat to downstairs or I could escape and study upstairs. I met so many wonderful people and Tami San was exceptional. She cooked me nabe on my last night there.”
“Honestly, this was one of my favorite places during my trip to Japan. We were very well received, the service was exceptional. Mr. Happy was perfect, explained everything to us, and even took us back to the station by shuttle after checkout.”
“The outside onsen is simply fantastic. A unique location, in the middle of woods , close to the river. Rooms are very spacious and Japanese style. Dinners were a unique Japanese cultural experience and the food was excellent.
Walking around the hotel you can enjoy nature and even see baboons running in the snow and climbing up trees.”
