Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe room felt very small, partially as the double beds were taking up the entire room. I struggled to pack as there weren’t enough floor space. The location wasn’t the best for me in Tokyo - a lot of restaurants within ten minutes work, but they were all izakaya type of places. I wouldn’t recommend the place for a female solo traveller. Possibly a good place to travel towards Narita airport and possible for a group of guys.
Clean, modern facilities, including a washing machine. There was a mix up in the booking through Booking.com on the day (careful with a short notice booking), but the staff members were helpful

Hong KongI need to wash towels by myself. We were 4 nights in this hotel, I would have liked linen change or extra linen.
The location was perfect. So many metro lines I can choose from. Many restaurants are nearby this area, not only Japanese food. There are kitchen and washing machine in the room. It is very convenient.

PortugalOur 3 bed room for 4 people was nice, but none of the beds were queen size, so sleeping 2 people in a 120 cm bed was a challenge. In addition, the beds were very, very firm, much like sleeping on a wooden park bench. It could work if you like to sleep on your back, but it's extremely uncomfortable if you sleep on your side. If you are sensitive to firm beds, this is not the hotel for you. The room just fits 3 beds and not anything more. On the bright side, the room was quite new with a good bathroom, heating/cooling system, and a nice washing machine.

SingaporeWe booked room for 8, there were 3 double bed and one sofa bed. However, room is very small, we couldn't even open the luggages for full.....but this is normal for Tokyo. There is also no cleaning for staying less than 10 days, we have to bring down the used towel to lobby for exchange.
The hotel location is very good, very near to the train station, just opposite the train station. 5 mins walk to Ameyoko and skyliner.

New ZealandIn comparison to the other 6 hotels we stayed in across Japan and Tokyo, the beds were very small - they claimed to be double but they were very narrow for a double and would not qualify as a double in western countries. Other hotels i stayed at claimed to have double beds and they were standard double beds. This made for very uncomfortable sleeps at Aima. The rooms and bathrooms were also very small in comparison to the other hotels i paid lots less for. It's definitely paying for the location, but don't expect any room to open your luggage or anything.
The location was excellent, especially for catching the train to the airport to leave, plus walking distance from hundreds of restaurants and shops. The rooms were clean and staff helpful.

SingaporeNo housekeeping throughout the stay even though I booked for 6 nights. You can change the towel by bringing it down to reception for one to one exchange but the floors are not cleaned in this case. Every day you have to collect your free bottle from counter. One bottle per pax. And only one key is issued per room. Room is very small that you can’t open big luggage. Balcony is not accessible as it’s more for emergency use.
The location is 5 mins walk to UENO station which is convenient

AustraliaCleanliness was poor. There was mold in bathroom area. Back of glass door hadn’t been cleaned & lower shower area. Hair from previous visitor was attached to bathroom mat. Towels very tiny and thin. Appears to be a business hotel. Not family friendly. There was business men using the toilet in foyer with door open at 11am. They don’t change bin bags daily.
Location is convenient to Ueno Station. Washing machine in room.

AustraliaThe quilt in the hotel is unusable. It is hard to believe how such quilt can still be used at the hotel especially in Japan. Considering the price being paid (nearly AU$400 per night), they don't even provide the usable quilt to the guests. I showed it to the hotel staff but was told that all quilts they provide are like that. The bed and pillow are very uncomfortable. The bedding condition is the worst I have ever had experienced in any hotel. We stayed at the hotel for 8 days and didn't have any good sleep during our stay. The room is very very small. The lighting in the room is very poor so the room is very dark. The staff at the reception just provide the basic service like the towels, bottled water etc. We can't see any real hotel staff. This should not be called the hotel. We were very unhappy about the stay at this hotel. This is the first time I have ever made the negative comment to the hotels we have booked on Booking.com. It is so disappointing.
There is nothing I like about this hotel.

CanadaThis was, by far, the most expensive hotel we stayed in on our trip, including another in a different area of Tokyo, and it was the smallest and the least comfortable. If we had to do it again, we’d stay in an area outside the city centre and train in for more room for less money.
The location is great if you want to be right in the action. The hotel is easy walking distance to Ueno park, the museums, Ameyoko street, and even Asakusa shopping areas. The staff at the hotel were kind and helpful. The in-suite laundry and kitchenette were great.
