Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United StatesThis was a lovely experience after the hustle and bustle of touring Tokyo for 6 days. They were extremely kind to our kids and the food was very good. Recommend taking a taxi from the train station, it’s a steep uphill to walk. The Onsen were lovely and very relaxing.

CanadaBetter signage to the property, we went past it and then had to circle back.
The property was easy to get to from the cable car. Staff was friendly. You were able to utilize the onsens privately with a choice of 3 multiple times during your stay. Room was clean and spacious. In room dinner was good. There was. Ropeway from the cable car (neat to learn about black eggs. There is a museum round the corner from this hotel. There is also another museum by the cable car and the open air museum is one stop back. Down by the station I slots of little souvenir shops. Lots of things to do in the area. I also enjoyed all the commentary and information from our trip up from Gora. Thank you to our hosts we will definitely come back.

SingaporeThe location is a little out of the way. We also need to factor in waiting time at the Gora station, as there are not many taxis in the area especially in the evenings.
The room was awesome. It was nice to have bed and futon options. We appreciate the free room upgrade; as well as being able to take up additional slots to try out all 3 different onsens. The onsens were lovely. The dinner and breakfast were excellent.

RussiaThe staff seems a little bit rude. Even though she speaks English, after I said that I have very limited Japanese, she still switched to Japanese and continued even after I said that it's hard for me to understand She said that she will guide us to the room, but she didn't explain anything about the room itself simply closing the door behind us and running away without saying anything. So we have to return to the reception later to ask how to turn the heater on There are no restaurants or convenience stores nearby. There are some cup noodles and snacks at the reception + room service (but they said it would take 2-3 hours to prepare)
You can book an onsen not only in the evening, but in the morning too (so at least two in total) There are 3 types of onsen, the outdoor one is fantastic The breakfast was very delicious Overall it's calm and relaxing experience

United StatesThe private onsens are absolutely delightful. We had opportunities to enjoy 2 different ones during our stay and liked both. We also loved the breakfast being served in the lodge. Our family had both the Japanese offering and the western one. They were well made, beautifully presented and tasty. We really appreciated the extra effort that the staff put in to help ship an item that we left in the room to our next location - they communicated well and shipped out the item the next day.

PhilippinesThe place is a bit far from the bus station and cable car station, especially if you have large luggage's to carry. We had a weird experience where we received 2 calls on the landline in our room 11:30pm and 12 midnight, but when we answered no one was speaking, just some weird noises. And when we asked the staff in the morning, they also don't know what that was about and told us maybe there was a problem on the phone line.
We like the room, though a bit small, it was fairly comfortable. The 3 onsen, which you can reserve, 2 hours, in the evening and 1 hour in the morning were also nice. The dinner meal course was also good, though nothing exceptional. Breakfast was also nice We enjoyed our stay, but I think it's overpriced.

United StatesEverything was amazing! Zero complaints
As a first time visit to Hakone, we were fortunate to come across this beautiful Ryokan (inn) Onsen (bathhouse) with only 6 rooms in total. This was much needed after 5 days in Tokyo and 200,000 steps walking (checking smart watch haha). We personally took a bus from train station to have a leisure ride (but ofcourse learned how expensive taxis were in Tokyo) through the mountains. Ruby at the front desk was very sweet, patient and accommodating even though we came about 1 hour earlier than the 4pm check in time. Ruby and her team made it a beautiful experience! From checkin guidance, reserving the private Onsens with My wife (don't worry...since there are only 6 rooms, everyone can reserve to fit in with their schedule). The Onsens, I wish I can describe in detail of the experience but you have to visit to experience first hand. All three Onsen options were extremely clean and private, had all the shower facilities and the most relaxing experience ever! The dinner with Japanese curry, corn soup in chilly weather hit the spot! Next morning the traditional Japanese breakfast was very refreshing and I'm grateful for them to accommodate us with dietary restrictions, this helped us energize for the day to explore Hakone via the local cable car/rope way which starts at "Gora" station about a 10-12 minute walk. We were able to leave our luggage for the day exploration in Hakone and would visit again asap with our bittersweet experience. Next time I would stay at least 2-3 days. Thank you Ruby and Ajisai team for making this a lifelong memorable experience!

AustraliaI think the hotel was amazing, - just be mindful with the location it's towards the top of a very steep hill from the train station, so consider taxi rides up.
The private onsens were really relaxing, very clean and well set up (private dressing room, private showers, then private onsen). We were provided with clean traditional robes (Yukata), that made the spa experience feel more authentic. The dinner and breakfast were delicious and filling. The room was clean and quiet. Staff were very helpful and attentive. The surrounding area is beautiful
