Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

Pillows were very thin - better just to sleep on a rolled-up jersey!
Modern, large and well equipped room with mini fridge. We liked the firm beds. Very nice facilities overall and free coffee was a nice touch. There is no staff present, so just self check-in which was fine. Took a few seconds to find the entrance - it is up a narrow staircase from the footpath, no signage out front.

I had a bit of trouble finding the hotel (I don't read Japanese). A sign for foreigners would help. Otherwise all he directions from the hotel were very clear.
This was a great value for the money, and it was comfortable . I especially appreciated that I was able to contact the Hotel to change dates when needed. Thank you. I wold stay here again.

The beds were not too comfortable. The pillows were tiny, cheap and unsupportive. The sofa was so small and low that it could be considered a toy. Trying to find the apartment for the first time was problematic as there was no street number on the building.
Everything was clean and the room was quiet although it was facing a main road. My questions were answered promptly.

Although advertised as a room for 4 people (2 beds, 2 futons), we had to rearrange the furniture & mini-fridge and put beds together in order to be able to lay down the 2 futons. The photo looks much more spacious than reality tv

Nothing specific to point out.
It was good value for the price but the room had just what you need, a bed, a small couch and a tv. Toilet and shower was shared but the were kept quite clean. Easy self check in process and check out.

Put the name of the property to see clearly
There is no sign name of the property , it’s hard to fine Google bring us over shoot! But after a while the owner receives our phone call ! It’s night time so, we worried a bit!

This is an airbnb or hostel, not a hotel. Sink, toilet and showers are shared in all rooms (even the family room). Considering that there are cheaper hostels and only slightly more expensive hotels in the city center, next time I would rather spend 2000 yen per person more and stay in a proper hotel. There was also a list for check-in asking for names, passport numbers and phone numbers at check in, visible to anyone entering the airbnb.
Everything was new and very clean.

1) Location - It was far from the station and everything else. 2) Initially, we wanted to cancel because our flight got cancelled, but the property did not allow us. We found alternative flights and pushed thru with the trip. The property did not give us passcodes to the door and to our room, hence we needed to phone the owner a couple of times. Only then were codes sent to us via booking.com and thru text. The owner said we cancelled, so no codes were given & no extra futon (we paid in advance) were provided at first. This is a big dissatisfier. 3) Before you get to the room, you need to take a steep flight of stairs. Quite difficult if you have luggages and trolleys. 4) From our room, we can hear footsteps and noise of other occupants.
Futons were ok The lady in the property was nice though she had a hard time communicating in English

We were in a room near the entrance so people coming in and out in the middle of the night was very loud. Again in the morning, people were up early and talking very loudly. There needs to be a sign saying please keep quiet and something to prevent the door from slamming. Under the beds there was quite a bit of dust built up that hadn't been cleaned... all they would need to do is use a Rumba and it would clean those places that people can't reach.
The rooms were new and the bathrooms/shower areas were very clean. The check in system was smooth and getting in was no problem at all. Good wifi speed
