Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

IrelandWe paid to check in early at 2:15. Given that the room was obviously ready as we were allowed to check in if we paid for it, I felt for the sake of 45 minutes, they could have just allowed us to check in.
Excellent location right in the centre of shinjuku but still quite enough that there was no outside noise when in our room. I expected a tiny room so the room size was a pleasant surprise, it wasn't too tight and had everything you would need.

PhilippinesThe staff was very responsive and helpful. The room had all the basic amenities a traveler expects. The bed was large enough for two and very comfortable. Location is near the shops, restaurants, and from Higashi-Shinjuku station and the main Shinjuku train station (about 8=10-minute walk depending on. your pace).

AustraliaThey clean the room once every 3 days but only collect the rubbish that is IN the bin. We had a big bag of rubbish accumulated over a few days that didn't fit in their little bin so we put it in a bigger bag next to the bin. The room was cleaned but the big bag of rubbish was left for us. The dyers are useless. 100JPY for 30mins to use the dryer but after almost 4hrs our clothes were still wet. A very time consuming exercise. We went to the laundromat on the street downstairs and it was 100JPY for 8 mins and only cost 250JPY and around 20mins to dry a whole load. Bathroom smells like mould.
Decent location. About a 15min walk to Shinjuku Station and slightly closer for a stop on the F line. Rooms were clean and they give you new towels every day. Washing facilities were available and accessible. Hotel staff were friendly and helpful. Complimentary toiletries are good.

IsraelThe room can be a bit small for an adult and a kid if you consider suitcases. But we managed as we were away from the hotel most of the day anyways.
Great location in Shinjuku. A short walk from the train station. Access is easy everywhere. The staff was super kind and helpful. I traveled with my kid and we always felt safe (It's Tokyo after all). The price is more then decent IMO. Great Value. The view for the 17th floor is great!

United StatesThere are two towers and both have checkin desks but only one of them is manned so it was a little confusing at first.
The hotel was very nice. Everything was clean and the staff were super helpful. The room was the size I expected of a budget hotel but honestly was just right for what I expected. We were given new towels and supplies regularly as well.

IsraelThe drain in the shower was clogged from day one. The staff wasn’t so friendly which surprised me. I asked for help getting a taxi to the airport and they told me not possible because it was raining. I ultimately successfully got using an app by myself.
It was good enough. Small room as is all of Japan but clean.

FranceOne of the staff members was not very friendly. They refused to store my luggage for a couple more hours, which I can understand if it's the policy of the hotel, but there was no need to be rude about it. Also three washing machines and dryers is way too few for such a big hotel, so prepare to queue if you want to wash your clothes.
Nice location, the room was clean, small but had all the necessary facilities. The bed was comfortable. There is also a hot tub, although I didn't try it. Overall good value for money

United KingdomThe size of the room - the bed is against one of the walls, and no storage for clothes, just a few hangers on hooks. But this sounds relatively normal for Tokyo.
Excellent staff, very clean, complimentary toiletries, you can leave your luggage securely before checking in, close to the subway, great area in Shinjuku.

MalaysiaProbably more washing machine and dryer in the laundromat would be great, it was always occupied. But not a big problem. Overall experience is very good
The room is very clean and hotel provides a lot of amenities. Quite a number of hangers provided, few hook to hang clothes/ towel, power socket at each side of the bed, very thoughtful, love the big TV with screen mirroring function, can actually watch movies from phone. Room size is abit small but you can store your luggage under the bed which is very thoughtful as well. Location is slightly further from the Shinjuku station but with walking distance.

AustraliaThere were only three washers and dryers (the dryers weren’t very good, it took about three hours for our washing to semi dry) which were always so busy that there were lines and staff letting everyone know where the nearest coin laundry was.
It was sooo central to everything, amazing location. We loved the convenience. The room was clean, very happy with everything overall. The fact that Japan hotels have the option of luggage delivery service (for extra $ but not expensive) is extremely convenient.

AustraliaBreakfast was ridiculously expensive so I didn't choose that option, you are better off going and getting a "Morning Set" at one of the local coffee shops for 1/4 of the price.
I was pleasantly surprised by my first stay at an APA hotel, I've always avoided them in my trips to Japan but this time it was convenient and the right price. I enjoyed the stay, actually. The rooms are very compact (which is why I have avoided in the past), but actually they are very well designed and also very comfortable, and so I didn't mind it just for the one night at all. And the bonus of this particular APA hotel having an Onsen bath area made me very happy. And of course, the location is excellent, right on the edge of Kabukicho.
