Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

CroatiaGreat location, close to a couple of metro stations. Great accomodation, the room just a bit too small. I know its in spirit of the hotel, but a bit bigger would be nicer. Everything else was great, clean, facilities working properly.

AustraliaBit small, thought i was getting a double room, but when checked in they said it is a standard room. For a couple, you could get in or out of bed only on one side, it is quite challenging if you have knee or back issues
Room was good and comfortable

DenmarkSome days it was only possible to cool down - so we didn’t succeed in getting the temperature right (it would either cool too much or not at all) Other days it was only possible to heat up - so the temperature in the room was too warm (not possible to cool it down) The check in process was too lengthy - with a long queue of people wanting to check in at the same time. The personal was not flexible enough to allow us to check in 1 hour in advance without extra pay. In most hotels, they let you check in earlier if it so happens that they already have the room available, without charging extra. I understand it is in their right, I’m just not used to this kind of inflexibility. We had our luggage stored for this 1 hour while we waited to check in, and when we asked for it (an hour later) it took the staff about 10-15 minutes to locate the luggage. This was nerve wrecking, as they appeared clueless.
Location was good. It is a modern hotel and the view from our room at the 17th floor was nice.

CanadaI think that it was the hotel polices that created most of the frustration; it's a very inflexible system. Sitting there in a lineup out the door at 2:59 waiting to check in because the policy says 3:00 only to do a self check-in service was frustrating; having to watch someone scan barcodes to get luggage when you can point yours out and save the wait was frustrating. Having a fridge that didn't work because it wasn't plugged in, but was bolted down so you couldn't get to the plug was frustrating. Too many small details that could go much smoother but don't, presumably because this is Japanese culture. The staff were nice, but trapped in a system that didn't allow them to find solutions, but only say that things were impossible, when they clearly weren't. Frustrating.
Great location! Easy to find, heart of town, and good communication to ensure you don't end up in the wrong APA Hotel (there are six or so in the immediate vicinity). Rooms were comfortable, and the traditional clothes provided were a most welcome touch.

United KingdomCheck in and out are automated (self service) which felt a bit much when we arrived at 1am with 2 sleeping children. The rooms are very small, there's a message telling guests to store luggage under the bed (due to lack of floor space). APA hotels are a popular chain all over Japan. They have 620 properties - often just down the road from each other. This made our APA really hard to find, although we had the Booking.Com address. We tool a taxi from Tokyo airport and even the driver struggled. The next day, Apple maps sent us to the wrong APA. It was fairly close to ours though! FYI the onsen (like most in Japan) and gender segregated from age 7+ and absolutely do not allow people with tattoos.
Good location, comfortable, everything we needed. Very nice beds, bedroom equipped with flat screen TV (including English language channels). Lots of options for lighting. Onsen/spa is wonderful and also free. Breakfast buffet included a small range of Western and European foods and was excellent quality. Staff were extremely friendly despite being very busy. Children were given little welcome bags with slippers and chocolate when we checked in. Reasonable value for money given the location.
