Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GreeceI didn’t like that I got a few messages from the staff about knowing the “exact” time of arrival for us to check in, and since we arrived at night, we got stressed about arriving on the time we declared… only to find out that we had to do a “self check in” through a machine!!!! Too much of a hurry for nothing, we still wonder why you needed so much detail about arrival time. Another thing we didn’t like is that after check out there was no lobby to wait for a while, or a sofa to sit, and we went with our luggage on the street. No ability to charge our phones, or use an accessible toilet on premises after check out. And last, too early check out ( 10:00am).
The location was excellent, minutes away from all the restaurants and the local bars, the nightlife and shops. Everything was within walking distance. Very good spot and I would definitely recommend it to people who want to experience Shinjuku vibe

New ZealandFar from JR station walk about 15mins. Noisy overnight time, heard siren from police or ambulance more than 3 times a night
A lot of shop and restaurants around the hotel. Nice staffs communicated in English. Easy check-in. Main door and elevator activate by room card. 2 bottles of water free every night. TV can be connected to smart phone. Free hot bath at the 2nd floor main building. 2 elevators

United StatesThis isn't really a negative - housekeeping left towels, new yukatas, and other amenities on our door daily. While that is a nice touch, we didn't need amenities replenished every day and wished there was a way to communicate this!
Spa facilities were great, though usually quite busy at night. We were jet lagged so visiting the spa early in the morning was ideal. The room was tight, but storing luggage under the bed made things more convenient. Location was close enough to the hubbub without being in the middle of it.

AustraliaWe were in the 'west' building, where as majority of facilities were in the 'tower'; going back and forth was inconvenient.
The hotel was incredibly comfortable, clean and conveniently located. The rooms are small, but well organised so as to still fit two people, suitcases and hand baggage. Bed was particularly comfortable!

IndiaPlease add English TV channels or programs for Non Japanese guests. We were looking forward to book one twin room for a family of four with two kids. But we ended up booking two separate rooms on different floors. Twin occupancy rooms should be available for booking for families.
Breakfast was good, please add more options in English breakfast menu.

BrazilWe had a double bed and it was quite small
Great location in the middle of Shinjuku, close to bus and subway stations. Also close to Shibuya and to shin-Okubo, the Korean neighborhood. Nice restaurants and convenience stores close by. Clean and nice hotel with a luxurious touch. Nice toiletries., well lit room. Even though the room is quite small it is well distributed and the fact that you can store luggage under the bed is key! If you book this hotel make sure to get the right name/address because there are 2 or 3 APA close to it (this is more like an advice, not an issue!)

SingaporeWould have preferred the rooms to be cleaned daily, instead of once every 3 days.
Love being able to go to the public bath every night and soak in the onsen pool. Very relaxing. The room may be small, but it has everything you need for a good night's sleep and stay. All the information on the TV homepage, which was great.

SingaporeNothing to really pick on except that it would be good to improve the design of the towel rack
The room was clean and the features/design were all very considerate of the traveller within a small tokyo accommodation i.e bedside power points with international adaptors, space to slide your luggage under the bed, onsen crowd monitor etc. About 10-15 min walk to shinjuku, shin-okubo and shin-higashi stations so connectivity was good too. Nearby the hotel there’s also a batting cage that we frequented and a mini ‘korea town’ that we visited to have a change in dietary flavours.

Germany- The rooms are rather small - as expected - The view from the room was blocked by another building (almost no daylight in the room) - The washing machines did not really clean my laundry (even though I generally like that there are laundry cleaning facilities in the hotel)
+ Everything was clean - as expected + The staff was helpful (in the few cases, I needed support) + The Onsen was not special, though a great place to relax
