Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyWith APA you know what you get. It is nothing fancy but looking at the price, it is more than suitable. Location in Shinjuku is really good for exploring the city.

Hong KongLobby is small. It may get jammed during peak check-in, check-out hours.
Room is neat and clean, sharing the same standard of most APA hotels. Location is pretty good, with many restaurants, shops nearby, and is walking distance to the train stations, metro stations and some tourist attractions around the area. Attached onsen is small but good enough for relaxing, after a day of shopping and sightseeing.

AustraliaStayed here for 3 nights. APA advertises that their rooms are small but highly functional which is very apt. I can't fault the rooms for being small as that is made clear before booking. We found it comfortable enough regardless. Staff were friendly, check-in was very easy for us as we managed to avoid the busy hours. There are large queues during check-out as well which we also managed to avoid. Nearest subway is about 10mins walk.

United StatesSuper small. Hard to move around and so we had to rent 2 rooms. But I would trade that for the location. We hardly stay inside and out most of the time.
Friendly staff and super close to all the restaurants

Comfortable bed and good location. The check-in and check-out process was smooth and fast. Some might argue that the room is small but it was just right for what we needed considering we were out visiting all day. I recommend the hotel.

CanadaI had a very good experience with Japanese breakfast when i visited Tokyo last time (not with this hotel), so I got the room with breakfast included. But this time it's not so good. First, the dining area is very small and with too many people in it. Secondly, they forced you to sit with other people even when there were many empty tables, even when there was a white old male sitting by himself by the window. Even you cooperate and sit with others to share a table, they will ask you to move again. Worst breakfast experience ever. I have visited Japan more than 4 times. This dining experience is the worst. If you like Japanese food or breakfast, i would recommend try other places or even 711 is better value.
Good location.

United StatesElevators can get very busy. It's about a 10 minute walk to the train station. Check-in is strictly at 3pm so many people check in all at once.
Close to many restaurants and convenience stores. Great views from the room and surprisingly quiet.

SwedenYou get what you pay for, and your money goes a long way. The hotel has a spartan+ experience level when it comes to hospitality with firmer than expected beds. Usually familiar with breakfast serving time ending but allowing for guests to be able to complete their meal, being asked to leave the restaurant at the time of breakfast serving ending was a new experience to me.
Easy check in/out process and easy access to breakfast. Very approachable staff and mostly helpful.

United StatesConsidering how modern split AC units work, the way the AC system in this and most APA properties is set up where the management determines if heating or cooling is universally applied to all rooms in the building is unsatisfactory. Rooms do not have mini-safes, and according to a staff member, the property does not provide safekeeping service at the front desk, even if this is described as an available service on the in-room infotainment system.
Newest building amongst the three adjacent APA hotels, so it is in good condition, and has logical floor design. Four elevators for quick floor access. Reasonably close to 2 train lines and a subway line. Several nearby convenience stores. Location feels safer than the core of Kabukicho to the South.

United StatesAs far as I know, all staffs in the front desk were interns when I checked in. It seemed they were willing to try to help me out but it took a quite long time to complete my request. They technically got my issue resolved, though. I think at least 1 experienced staff should be there to support for customers and even these intern staffs all time. In addition, the lobby was totally packed with lots of those who needed check-out and baggage storage around 9 and 10 am. Thanks to friendly staffs, I didn't have any problem but some people got under my skin with their weird temper and rudeness.
Off the top of my head, the hotel was quite good overall. Clean and quite room / Onsen, friendly staff, nice breakfast! If anyone loves to enjoy K-culture in Japan, it is a perfect place to stay because there are tons of K-Restaurants and Bar. This area "Shinjuku" or "Shin-Okubo" is such a hot place for young people and tourists who are interested in Night life.
