Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaSmall but great quality rooms. New towels and things delivered daily. Great to have a proper spa in the hotel, which I used every night. Pretty good location, about 20 min walk to Shinjuku, but a closer metro line too. Lots of eating options nearby. Definitely happy with this hotel.

AustraliaWe couldn’t control the temperature and the heating was so high we were sweating all night it was so uncomfortable. The pillows were also horrible, made of small foam balls, very difficult to sleep well.
Excellent location, close to the station and entertainment. The spa/onsen was a wonderful bonus, very luxurious. Room was just big enough and everything was clean.

United StatesThis property gets hot on some nights, so if this is a big issue for you I’d recommend looking else where.
Location is great, many things to do around the area while also being near many stations. It’s also very clean.

ChinaThe rooms are just too small. It was impossible to open the suitcase and take what you needed without trouble.
The location was wonderful as the rest of the comments say. The staff was very helpful.

Great location. Ammenities fantastic. Could cast to tv which is great as most airbnb and hotels only do Japanese tv. Amazing food around. Comfortable. Great view of the city.

LithuaniaEven though the location is very accessible (the Shinjuku station is close by), one should be aware that there's a lot of the clubs in this area
Good price and quality ratio, easy check in and out, nice view from our window

New ZealandOnly a small gripe, but they refused to accept a parcel on behalf of us which was cash on delivery, despite us offering to pay in advance. Instead, we had to wait for the delivery in our room.
Good location, good view, close to public transport. Room was cleaned to a high standard

AustraliaFor a budget hotel chain, was pleasantly surprised at the size and comfort of the rooms after seeing a lot of videos on Youtube that Japanese hotels are tiny.

United KingdomFantastic location within 10 minutes walk of Golden Gai and 20 minutes from Shinjuku station. Plenty of konbinis within easy reach and nearby Higashi-Shinjuku metro station makes getting to other districts incredibly easy. Rooms are compact but that's part of the appeal - if all you're going to be doing is sleeping there and then spending the rest of the time exploring, it's great value for a comfortable bed, good shower room and convenient hotel facilities. Would definitely stay in more APA hotels on future trips.

United KingdomNot really something at fault with the hotel, just unlucky timing, the very few numbers of washing machines and dryers, caused me to wait for over 6 hours until 1am to complete 1 washing as a group of students were using multiple machines with multiple loads the night before I needed to check out
I liked that it was quite simple and easy to navigate from Shinjuku station/Kabukicho, the public baths with open air option was nice and there was under bed storage which the previous APA hotel I was at didn't have and even though I didn't book a room with a view, mine was pretty nice

GreeceRooms could be a bit bigger as they are small even for Japanese standards. Also, the Parking, though attached to the hotel and catering only to guests, claimed that they are separate entities and could not assist me when I needed to park the rental
Very good hotel with all necessary ammenities in an excellent spot of Shinjuku.

NetherlandsThe only option was heating for room air conditioning. Which was pretty annoying and uncomfortable as there was no way to make the room cooler. Also the check-in was weird. We saw at least 4-5 staff members but the checkin was self service. That just felt stupid and unwelcoming.
Great location. Loved the view. Surprising how comfortable the small room can be. Even took a bath in the tiny bath tub which was very comfortable. Would choose an APA hotel again!

Enjoyed staying, booked an upper floor room! Although the room is pretty small, it's clean and includes amenities. I liked the hot bath (onsen) facility which was on one of the floors. After we checked in, we prepaid for breakfast for just 1 of the mornings of our stay and enjoyed the variety of small dishes, both hot and cold. There are multiple APA hotels in the same area, so be sure to go to the correct one.

AustraliaThe cost between a saturday night versus other nights does not make sense. Just an additional night during Saturday in the same room was the same price as staying for 2 nights on Thursday and Friday. The view from the hotel room was not great. The room is extremely small, especially the bathroom. I wish they had a better hair dryer, it was very weak.
Check out process was very easy and using booking.com made things easy.
