How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

The rooms were a bit too pokey and small, the aircon turned to a heater and made the room feel too hot, and we couldn’t open the window.
It was a nice place to stay with a lovely experience in their restaurant.

rooms were small but thats what you get for the price. the auto check in system was a little slow and one staff coded a different room onto our key cards which was quite funny

Rooms are very very very small. Probably under 100 sqft. If you bring 2 large suitcases, you won't have any room left to walk. With a family of 3, it was very compact.
Location is a big plus. there are multiple subway stations nearby. Pretty much entire Tokyo was accessible with ease.

Very small rooms, tiny elevators and the hotel was always crowded due to its size
Location, though its just around a place of a lot of bars. The staff were very nice, except one of the ladies at desk of the breakfast area. Hotel was clean

Seems strange to have such a massive hotel with 20+ floors and such a tiny room for breakfast. One morning I went down at 6am and I could get in no problem, the second morning I went down at 8 and there was a waiting list for breakfast, had to go back two hours later.
Great location, great hotel. Tiny rooms but cosy.

The hotel is in the red district of Tokyo. That isn't ideal at all but luckily Japan is a safe country and despite a couple of streets, the location was so convenient.
I loved the little Onsen.

I understood that the hotel was trying its best to accomodate everyone but the temperature was kept at an above average temp. I stayed in another APA for 1 night and the window there was able to be opened. I couldnt see why this location here wouldnt do the same.
It's in the heart of Shinjuku! I didnt need to stress about catching the last train when having a night out here. The comfort in that alone is immesurable.

Fantastic property with everything you would need. The onsen was great and you can see how busy the onsen on tv and decide when it’s best to enter. Great quiet location.

This property is located at the confluence between Korea-town and Kabukicho. Because of the latter, expect the noise, poor behavior, and litter that come with an entertainment district. Related to the property itself, cooking smell from the downstairs restaurant was distributed every morning through the outside air vent in the room regardless of whether the room AC was on or not.
As reasonable as Shinjuku gets? Good balance of reasonably priced and reasonably conveniently located for the Shinjuku area. Reasonably close to Tokyo Metro Higashi-Shinjuku Station, Seibu Shinjuku Station, and JR Okubo Station in that order. Easily accessible from Haneda by Limousine Bus or rail with 1 or 2 transfers. Hotels closer to JR Shinjuku will increase in price even without an increase in quality. Myriad small convenience stores nearby, and a small supermarket across the major thoroughfare. Lots of "international" dining options nearby. This property is fairly new, and is clean and well-maintained.

the rooms and everything is really really small. for me at 6'2" I also my hit the hallways ceiling and the rooms are very compact. however it is what you pay for.
it is very close to many great areas and is pretty modern.
