Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomGood solid hotel in a good location - 5 min walk to a 2-line subway station and a 10 min walk to Shinjuku Station with an abundance of connections. Hotel itself is nice, would recommend a high floor if possible as views are nice. Rooms very comfortable and clean.

United StatesReally only two things. 1. The window in my room didn’t open. It was deadbolted shut. I imagine this has to do with the height and the fact that maybe since this is a party-prone area, it’s risky to allow windows open? However having 0 fresh air in my room kinda sucked. 2. The onsen closes at midnight. This was the earliest out of all the hotels I stayed at including other APAs (roppongi APA was open until 2am). Again, I assume this is because people party in Shinjuku and they don’t want drunk folks using an onsen between midnight and 2am, but having it close that early affected my plans most nights because I’d come home early to catch a dip before bed.
I love how close this was to everything. Extremely convenient location. I also loved that I only paid a tiny bit extra (around $20 USD) to be on floor 17 and above. I wanted a view from my room and I sure got it! Lastly staff was very friendly and accommodating. I extended my check out by 1 hour and wanted to pay via cash, just had to do it in person with someone at the front desk and they helped me do that with ease.

United KingdomRoom was quite small, even tough I was on my own. It's not like I need a lot of space but I wouldn't recommend the same room for a couple. It's just enough for one person.
Very clean, super convenient location, very quiet at night even though it's in the middle of shinjuku. It has everything you need and more (a bunch of toilettries!)

MalaysiaThe hotel located in quite a dodgy area in Shinjuku. One of the most dodgiest that I have came across. It is not unsafe as Japan is generally safe everywhere, but some may not be comfortable passing that area especially those travelling with family. At night, the whole place will turn into red light district. Other than that, generally this hotel is good.
Location is not exactly located within the central Shinjuku, you would need to walk for about 15 to 20 mins from the happening area in Shinjuku but the hotel is quite close to the Korean town. Also comes with onsen for you to relax after long day out. Hotel staff are friendly.

AustraliaThe set heating temperature at 29! You can’t change the temp. If you run warm or like cold air on you whilst you sleep it’s a massive let down ! We were awake for 2 hours of the night because it was so hot! Even had a cold shower.

GermanyThe room is very small but you can store your luggage under the bed, which helps, otherwise it would have been difficult. The staff refused to store our luggage overnight as we had one night out of town then planned to come back to the same hotel. For that we cancelled our last night at Apa hotel and chose another hotel closer to Ueno station, accommodating our travel plans a little more.
The onsen is clean and modern. The room is small but has all you need for a stay over in Shinjuku. It has a nice city view.

QatarThe bathtub drain wasn't functioning well, it doesn't drain the water quick enough so even a short shower with medium water flow can start accumulating in a minute.
The staff were very nice and helpful, it's in a good location close to several stations. I didn't use any facilities except for the rented room so my review is based on that.

The location. Near the train station. Lots of restaurants, bars and night clubs. But the area is safe. Walking distance to 7-11, Lawson, Familymart. Nearby laundry mat. You’re also near to Godzilla head and the 3D cat.
