Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

AustraliaThe hotel is conveniently located near the Takaoka station, however, the train between Shin-Takaoka where the shinkansen actually stop and Takaoka is not very regular so you may want to consider your arrival and departure time.
Nice rooms but a bit on the small size (true to pictures). Staff was friendly and helpful. They have a public bath with water from a source (can't remember where) which was a nice touch and definitely enjoyed by Japanese people. There are laundry facilities which are relatively well priced.

JapanThere are konbini, bus stop, and tram stop nearby. Microwave is available. Even though the room is small (typical japanese hotel for 6,000-7,000 yen), but I could fully open 1 medium sized luggage. Small space to hang clothes. Acceptable bathroom size. The bathtub size is bigger than I thought. The location, it's actually walkable from Takaoka eki, but since we travel in snow, it's quite hard to walk and opted for public transportation.

JapanNear the station. The staff are really helpful. My night bus is at 10pm, and I have to stay in the hotel lobby until 9:30 and I need to charge my phone. Since there were no free outlets, the staff helped me by unplugging the desk lamp so I could charge my phone.

CanadaThe trains run just outside and the noise could bother some people.
Spotless as I would expect of an APA. Provided me with a plug converter to use North American electronics where the cord has a ground prong. Nice to have an onsen on site.

IrelandWe already knew that the room size would be small, so I'm not saying that I didn't like it but if there was anything to improve on in the hotel it would be to have more space in the room. Having said that I do appreciate that we were getting very good value for money at this hotel so the room size was a good compromise for that. :-)
The hotel is in a very convenient location beside the train station and close to shops/restaurants. We loved having the Onsen in the hotel and it was not crowded during our 4 day stay.

SingaporeIt's the first time I hear the hotel has a heating system that controls all the rooms. That is during our visit in Nov, there's no air condition and we cannot control from our room. The hotel turns on the heating system in the evening for all the rooms. At the end, the staff sent us a blower, which is not of much help, it only cools the room slightly.

NetherlandsDoors of your neighbors and people talking in the hallway are quite noisy. The bathroom is very small (have seen some bigger in other hotels). Small things, but still quite noticeable for some people.
We got a room on their top floor and the view was amazing. The room is small but has everything you need for a night away. The TV aimed right at our bed was honestly great for watching a movie and falling asleep. The hotel is right next to the station, so easy accessible.

United StatesI stayed here for a couple nights en route to a more rural part of Japan and I was very comfortable here. The hotel is clean and only steps away from the train station, which was excellent. The only thing I didn't love was hearing my neighbors, as the walls seemed rather thin. Nothing disruptive but was just different than the other places I stayed in Japan. Overall a real bang for your buck though!

JapanI find that the temperature of the bath was slightly too hot, maybe could lower 1-2 degrees? The hairdryer in the hot bath can be improved, there is only 1 hair dryer which was good.
Its about 2 minutes away from the train station, so there is many food available. The hotel has only 10 over parking lots, staff was very kind enough to share all the nearby parking before hand which was extremely helpful. The tap water is delicious haha, its tasted even nicer than the bottle provided! The bath was big enough as well, even though there was many people but it felt comfortable. Love the bed and the pillows, always have neck issues but its actually quite good, thought of purchasing it online! Check in and out was extremely smooth.

JapanThe space of the room, and toilet was small! 😌 Could've been better if 'twas spacious!
The bed was so soft, and it was clean! It's accessible to train and bus station. The male staff who attended to us was nice.

Hong KongSimilar to other Japan hotel, the room size is quite small. There is no separate area to place the suitcase. When I open the suitcase to get some items, it occupies most walking area in the room. See if the room layout can be improved to place the suitcase easily.
The hotel is well located and very close to the railway station by walk less than 5 minutes. Very convenient if you need to take train to other areas to commute. The onsen in the hotel is superb with long open time that can help relax my body after a whole day visit in the city. The room facilities are very comprehensive. The bed and pillow are very comfortable.
