Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GreeceRooms are small. They write it's because they want to reduce the carbon footprint of the room, which is I think is a cheap excuse for having more guests packed at the same time thus increasing their profit. Check in is at 15.00. if you arrive earlier, even 30 min before, they say you can get in the room earlier provided you pay an extraordinary fee (2000 yen), which means the room is ready they just don't give it to you.
Good location, clean room. Our room had a great view as it was on the 15th floor.

The hotel is good and clean. It has water bottles and the opportunity to make tea/coffee in the rooms. It's nice to have useful hygiene products in the bathroom that you can take if you need them.

United StatesBed was hard but have found that throughout Japan. This hotel did not have a lot of features but as stated before, has everything you need.
Actually easy to find but dragging large suitcase was a no go. $7 taxi from main Tokyo train station. Staff did a good job helping me when needed. Room small (as most APA single rooms) but very functional. A/C great, wifi great. Area walkable.

SwitzerlandThe room was extremely small, and I had a hard time opening my suitcase, which made it quite inconvenient to "live" there. For a stay of 1-2 nights with minimal luggage, it’s perfect, but for a longer stay, it’s definitely not ideal. The location seemed great on Google, but in reality, it wasn’t as convenient. There are only 7-Eleven and Family Mart stores within walking distance, but for any restaurants or other attractions, we had to take the metro or Uber. While the metro is just a 3-minute walk, the JR Rail (which takes you to the airport) is much farther away.
As a chain hotel, APA adheres to certain standards that can be expected at any of their locations, which gave us confidence when choosing to book. The check-in and check-out process was incredibly quick, the rooms were clean and equipped with all the necessary amenities. The staff was friendly, and we were able to store our luggage for the day, which was very convenient.

New ZealandOnly 1 old laundry machine, you have to put your own laundry detergent, but they don't supply it. The staff thought it was automatic detergent dispensing, but after 31mins (cycle time) all you end up with is wet musty smelling clothes. At least they refunded my 500 yen and lent me hangers to dry my things (and the ventilation in bathroom and AC was sufficient to dry things in 24hrs). There were smells that came into the room from under the door (or AC?) - smells like foods and smoking, it wasn't that bad, but noticable.
The room was small, but it had lots of hooks and space under the bed to push your luggage. Checkout was really easy, put the card into a machine that reads it and checks you out (no need to do a full form on screen), bed, pillow, and duvet really comfortable. AC was pretty good. Everything pretty clean and tidy. The staff were a mix, some semi-friendly and some uninterested, nothing outstanding, but at least they did help when you needed it. I liked how they'd just hang your fresh towels in a bag on the door instead of having to make up your room (although you can request it for free - which I tried once and it was good). The information on the TV screen was good. The wifi was nice and strong. Location was convenient, although Hatchobori station only has stairs without escalator or lift to street level which is hard with heavy bags. Several combini nearby, but not a whole lot of other things in the near vicinity. There was only 1 lift, but I didn't really find it that slow, at checkout it was full but you could squeeze in.

United KingdomThe only negative was that my room faced a brick wall, but as I was out all day it didn't really matter!
It was good value for money and provided everything needed. I particularly liked the yukata and slippers. Ice and a microwave were available in the foyer and there are 4 convenience stores within a stones throw of the hotel. The subway is also only about 50 metres away.

United StatesThe room wasn't huge — just enough space for a bed and desk and little else. Pillows were somewhat hard and crunchy. And the breakfast, at Denny's across the street, was downright terrible — the only bad meal I had in all of Japan. Do NOT purchase the breakfast package — there are many good places to eat just a few short steps away from this hotel. I regretted purchasing the breakfast add on.
The staff was very warm and attentive and went the extra mile to help guests. For example, when I decided to book additional nights, the woman at the desk pointed out that I could save money by booking on the APA Hotels site. They also introduced me to the inexpensive Airporter service that took my heavy bag to the airport for me. And they stored my bag while I was away. They did many small, helpful things which I very much appreciated, and were unfailingly kind and pleasant. There were many very convenient and very good places to eat right nearby. Also, the location was convenient to two train stations, so I could get to Ginza, Tokyo Station, Shinjuku and many other areas with ease from this hotel in a relatively quiet area. The single hotel room I stayed in was not spacious, but it was clean and nice, and just enough for a solo traveler. The bed had a delightfully fluffy, snow-white comforter, and the mattress was was firm and comfortable. There was a mini fridge for snacks. And everyone who worked here was very friendly and accommodating. I stayed here seven nights in total, and it felt like my home away from home. Other small touches: right next to the bedside, there was a console from which you could plug in an HDMI cable to the TV, and dim or turn on and off every light in the room. You could also easily cast to the TV and watch anything from your phone, such as YouTube, which was relaxing after a day of running around the city.
